Anyway ordered samosas for entree, glad to see they were proper indian samosas nice pastry and very tasty filling. For mains we ordered a potato curry which was very nice, a beef madras? now we were asked what heat level, we went for medium? it was the weirdest madras I have ever eaten, really mild and just a strong coconut taste? the meat was nice. The pulao rice was good and the nan bread also good. Service very good. Total cost $52 which I think was very reasonable. We would go back but would not order the beef madras.
We have visited Sain Café last year and enjoyed it then. This time we were welcomed back by a big smile and a very nice meal. The ambience of the café leaves a little to be desired and parking can be tricky - but prices are reasonable and the staff are eager to please. Very happy to come back again.
Based on the recommendation of others we decided to give Saino a try. Located on at the Henley Street traffic lights on Canning Highway near the Canning Bridge, it's one of those places you often drive by and never think of visiting, which is a shame. Being right on the highway, you'll have to park a few minutes away at the car park on Henley Street. Up until recently I've thought this was an Italian restaurant but it's actually a Nepalese/Indian restaurant. The decor is relatively plain, apart from the prayer flags festooning the chandelier (from the restaurant's previous incantation), the numerous paper butterflies and smattering of photos of Nepal. The menu is extensive but hard to decipher, the food however is freshly made with love. A husband and wife time run this establishment and you can tell they have put everything they have into making it as successful as they possibly can. Unfortunately not many people know it exists (me included until recently), which is why it is so quiet on a Friday night. The owner explains that because they predominantly serve Indian dishes and they make them fresh they can cook them according to your chilli threshold. So if you like them spicy hot, like me, they can satisfy your tastebuds but if you're a novice to Indian cuisine they can tone the same dish down as well. After trying the two other Nepalese restaurants in the area I'd have to say the flavours here are a lot better just a shame that more people don't know it.
My wife, daughter and I went to this little restaurant last night for the first time. The staff were very attentive and friendly, the food was absolutely delicious and plentiful. We would highly recommend the saag, madras lamb and korma vegetables and don't forget to try their naan breads. It is a little out of the way but worth the trip. We will definitely be back with friends.
A friend and I dine together each Tuesday after we finish work at around 9.00 pm and the choices available at this time on a Tuesday night are limited. So we were delighted to find that this little restaurant accepts orders until 9.45 pm. The premises are fairly spartan and they are located in an uninspiring group of shops next to a liquor store on Canning Highway in Como. But is was the warmth of the welcome and the 'can do' attitude that set them apart for us. Their keenness to please us was evident in a willingness to take constructive criticism. To be fair, the food was reasonable and certainly value for money, but it wasn't the best Nepalese cooking I have tasted. We will go back though as they are convenient, the food is tasty and the people who run it are enthusiastic and welcoming. On that basis, we are prepared to give them another 'go'.
