To be honest, we dined in the Rose Tea Room, which is part of the same establishment as the ice cream parlour. We are regular customers at their sister location, Garden World in Conwy, where we always enjoy top-notch food and service while shopping at the garden centre. This cafe looked similar and had the same menu, but the service and food quality were completely different. In Conwy, you receive table service and pay when you leave, but at Kinmel Bay, it's more like a cafeteria where you have to queue and pay multiple times during your meal. The special menu wasn't displayed, so you had to ask for it and then orders were shouted at you from the register. The dishes were described the same, but the food itself was of lower quality with less salad and overall chaos and disorganization. It was far from a relaxing dining experience. On a positive note, the ice cream was fantastic and reasonably priced.
This cozy cafe is dog-friendly, but unfortunately lacks the expected friendliness. The staff seem to go out of their way to avoid making eye contact and serving customers, making it one of the most unwelcoming places I have ever been to.
This was a visit to the rose tearoom which is connected. ordered two breakfasts and drinks. there was quite a long wait, during which i noticed a few people having problems. took about 20 minutes to arrive, nice enough but the beans were cold, and the sausage hadn't been quite right. staff very friendly BUT ... i watched one person who was cleaning a table with sprays etc. finish what was being done and then go and collect food form the hatch without washing her hands ... potentially dangerous i thought :
When you compare this little gem to the extortionate prices of other ice cream parlours in the area this one blows them out of the water. It's a hidden gem in North Wales, I've been coming here for years, my Dad even helped build some of the original Garden Centre years ago but I haven't been since the last revamp. We came to get some veggie plugs for the garden and spotted the ice cream parlour, 48 flavours, all as tempting as each other. I had butterscotch and pecan and it was fantastic. I even had a tub of Scoops for the dog! But the best thing about this place is the price! For 2 single scoop waffle cones, a dog ice cream and a Fentimans bottles drink I paid £9 yes! £9! And it was just £1 more for an additional scoop! These guys have a goldmine on their hands, delicious ice cream, dog friendly, not overly busy, great prices and friendly staff... If I could give more than 5 stars I would do!
