Before exploring the town, we stumbled upon Cross's Coffee shop, an independent café that we highly recommend to anyone visiting. The atmosphere was cozy, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the drinks and snacks were top-notch. The coffee and hot chocolate were fantastic, and the flapjacks were decadently sweet with syrup. The teacake was delicious and the currant slice tasted just like my mother used to make. Relax yourself at this exceptional coffee shop whenever you find yourself in Whitehaven!
I had high hopes for this venue but was a bit disappointed. The coffee was hot and tasty, although on the smaller side. The toastie had a generous amount of meat filling, but was slightly burnt and not completely sealed. The menu was simple, flexible, but limited, with some prices not clearly displayed. The atmosphere was spacious and basic, with customers having to look at the walls and other tables. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The prices were average. Overall, it was fine, but I was hoping for more refinement. Despite being considered the best coffee shop in Whitehaven, I believe the town deserves a bit more. The customers were friendly and had a local charm.
This cafe in Whitehaven is known for its authenticity, friendliness, cleanliness, and efficiency. It has been operated by the same family for three generations. While the cuisine may not be high-end, you can expect warm smiles, delicious Northern food, a spotless environment, and reasonable prices. The cafe is popular among locals who enjoy catching up with each other and sharing stories, especially on snowy mornings. It is definitely a must-visit in town.
We had a late lunch after a very cold morning in the museum. Our food was hot and served quickly by friendly staff
Devine- the ham was toothsome and the bread was a working class portrait of joy. The tea was hot and was served in a hipster cup and plate which took my eyes from Whitehaven to a woke tea shop in London- would certainly recommend
