During our holiday in Cumbria, my husband and I decided to have lunch at this restaurant based on the affordable prices listed on the menu online. The waitress was friendly and our lattes were delicious, which is a big deal for me as I am very picky about my coffee. We both opted for pizzas, but unfortunately my Goats Cheese and Caramelised Onion pizza was not edible. It was extremely soggy with an overwhelming amount of sauce, making it more like a strange dessert than a main course. I couldn't even taste the cheese. Despite being the only diners in the restaurant at the time, the waitress never checked on the quality of our meals. When I mentioned my dissatisfaction with the pizza, she simply smiled without offering an apology. We informed her that we did not think we should pay for the pizza, and the cook agreed to remove it from the bill without showing any remorse. I would have much preferred to pay full price for a decent pizza rather than the disappointing one I received. I have given this restaurant two stars solely because we did not have to pay for the pizza, but I definitely would not recommend this place.
We just happened on this place one Sunday afternoon looking for tea and cakes on arriving the sign at the door said booking for Sunday lunch is essential we went in and there was only two of the many tables in use at 2pm we went to the counter to see what was on offer the waitress said we should take a seat and she would take our order there in the cabinet there was a large strawberry cheesecake uncut) , some lemon cake uncut) and a lemon meringue cake all looking good I thought. Seated at the table I said to the waitress who was very polite) could we have tea and the strawberry cheesecake and was told the strawberry cake was only for the people who ordered Sunday lunch as was the lemon cake I found this a stupid rule and we could only have the lemon meringue, what if the Sunday lunch people all 4 of them) wanted meringue would they be told they couldn 't have it as well. We did have the meringue and it was nice but won 't be back and will look elsewhere for a strawberry cheesecake
Called in here for a drink, after visiting the Seaview Nurseries. Cappuccino was delicious and service friendly.
Visited for the first time yesterday (Sunday)at1125 the building is well appointed however the staff leave a lot to be desired .Asked for beans on toast and told they could not do it as it is Sunday lunch day! We had two Americans,s which were small and tepid the latte was all froth and the flap jack was passable. We will not be in a hurry to return
