This was my first time to a sushi restaurant and I liked it. Ordered mix tempura, Miso Soup, rainbow sushi and volcano sushi. Being a spicy food lover, the sauces or the seasoning used was very mild and bland for my taste buds. Super friendly staff and fast service. Will be going back to try some spicy sushis next time. I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
I am SPEECHLESS. I've been to a lot of places (always seeking that perfect sushi roll) and I'm not kidding this is possibly the best I've ever found. Even better than overpriced sushi I had on the ocean in Boston. The sushi here is no joke. Next level. Game. Changer. Even their ginger tastes better than anywhere else?! Their miso broth is wonderful, too! My husband ordered the miso ramen and it was also rich and comforting. Plated beautifully! The service here felt like home! That's the best way I can describe it. They make you feel like family. We felt so welcome and loved the atmosphere. It's clean, ambient, and laidback! Perfectly done. I could go on and on, but if you read nothing else in this review, read this: We saw at least TEN people come in for takeout in the 25 minutes we spent here. That's how you know it's awesome food. Also, that goes to show how fast I inhaled the sushi. Come here and show some love.
I ordered delivery from this place for the first time a couple of weeks ago so I would have something to eat during the weekly conference call and to get me through the long work day. I was a bit confused by my experience since I had scanned the rating and highlights first. I hesitated to even write this review because my impression didn't jive with the rating, and I wondered if I missed something. My impression was that I paid a premium for food that ranged from needing some work to decent, and got really small portions. I went back to deep dive into the reviews and noticed that the dine in customers really love the owner/chef. That's awesome, I of course cannot comment on atmosphere or service from a delivery order. I ordered the red snapper nigiri for $5.50 and I do want to state that this price is pretty on par with nigiri at other places, within reason. The quality was decent, I would even say average for the area and that was probably the best value of what I ordered. I'm a bit bento obsessed so I got a bento box as well, which was one of the cheaper ones at $13.99 for chicken teriyaki, miso soup, a salad, a 4 piece California roll, a dumpling and shrimp/vegetable tempura. The food was delivered very quickly. Considering I work fairly close, I was impressed that they seemed to make my order immediately and delivered right away. I appreciate the speed and imagine that dine in customers are usually happy with their wait times. Unfortunately, I just had a very difficult time getting over how much I paid for such small portions. I get bento boxes really often, like several times a week, and have gotten them from a variety of places from Denton to Irving. I'm aware of slight differences in prices, portions and quality, but the average bento will run you $8-11. I have paid more and I never mind it when the portions are larger or it's exceptional quality. However, this baffled me as the portions of some items were close to half of what's normal and the quality was just okay. Due to my long work hours I have had many to go orders of miso find their way to my desk. This container was literally half the size of the average to go portion and I have never received one so small. It tasted pretty decent though. The portion of the chicken was only about a quarter smaller than a normal bento entrée, which I don't find bothersome as that's an acceptable margin from one place to the other. However, the chicken was tough and chewy. The sauce was congealed, but I'm not knocking for that because despite a fast delivery, that could have just happened during transport as it was cooling. The chicken was not tossed in the sauce, it was applied afterwards, but it's not like you won't see that at some places. It tasted fine, really it was just the texture and cook that were off. The portion of the rice was the smallest I have ever seen in a bento... ever. It was actually a disappointing and irritating amount that didn't match the entrée portion in the slightest. I've occasionally wished for a tad more rice, but this was a third of the width, half the height and also dry! The salad was also a small portion. The California roll was rolled small, but within reason. The dumpling and tempura met portion expectations. I didn't try the salad as it didn't really look appetizing. The dumpling was so-so and the California roll was fine. I found the shrimp tempura to be bland and soggy as hell. However, the veggie tempura was extremely good and worth ordering again. I would say that the veggies were the best thing I had in terms of taste and texture. While letting my review sit in drafts and trying to figure out why my experience was so different from a large number of reviewers, I went and checked out the pictures. Ahhh, okay, we got a consistency issue here. I checked out multiple photos of bento boxes and sushi. You can see varying sizes and shapes of rolls and scoops of rice. Several were huge portions, several were as small or smaller than mine and many were in between. Strangely, this made me feel better as I was wondering why nobody else mentioned the value. So instead of 2 stars for poor value, I'll give 3 stars for inconsistent portions and average quality. My delivery order not being quality checked is a lot less baffling than a restaurant with poor value not getting called on it. I personally believe that you can get better quality nearby in Carrollton and even Flower Mound has two outstanding sushi spots with fantastic quality. Both of those locations are a great deal with good portions and prices as well. There were some hits and misses and my experience did not exhibit a good value for what I got. However, I suspect a dine in experience might be different, or at least you could ask for a portion fix if you experienced an issue. I don't believe I will try delivery again, but I am open to stopping in one day to see if my impression can be improved.
So I've been in Texas for a week on business and have had nothing but fried , spicy and heavy fatty food wherever we've been. I am so delighted to have found Mua Sushi Decor is pleasant and inviting Staff are courteous and friendly Japanese beer was ice cold as it should be Place is spotless Sushi and Sashimi were wonderful and value for money outstanding. Hope I travel back here again to revisit.
I'm so glad we found this little spot near our house. The service is always friendly and the food is pretty good! We usually opt for the bento box dinners and some sushi rolls on the side. The dinners are served with your choice of entree, white rice, salad, miso soup, tempura and a sushi roll. It's a great value for the money. I've tried the chicken teriyaki and also the tempura. My husband loves the Yakiniku, which is a thinly sliced beef. The servings are very generous and make for some nice leftovers. It's our new go-to spot for when those sushi cravings hit. I recommend it!
