The black bean chicken along with the green beans and minced pork were very good and the dishes were big too. It doesn't say how many people the combo is good for but it is a lot of food for two people. The menu is quite large and has pictures too, although I was disappointed there isn't a drinks menu (either alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Going on a Sunday night, it was extremely busy and reservations are recommended particularly if you're a large party. Being very busy, the staff are rushed off their feet, so it can be difficult to get their attention.Value for money is pretty good and they accept plastic although you must spend upwards of $ 20-40 (before tax) if you want to pay that way. Keep some cash handy. Overall, the lobster combo was great value for money; you would struggle to find a restaurant to give you a whole lobster plus two large dishes for what I paid. Would recommend to those who like Chinese food and seafood.
The location is the old Thai Garden Restaurant premises. Right across from the new Burquitlam ALRT station. The dinner menu is pretty traditional Chinese Cantonese food. We ordered the lobster combo dinner for $60.00, guaranteed a 2 lb. lobster cooked to your choice of sauce with option of adding noodle as base for a few dollars more. This also included 2 other dishes of your choice. It is plentiful for a group of 4.We also tried lunch at this place. The congee and wonton noodle are both very good. We particularly like the fry-to-order Chinese donut to go with the congee. As with many other Chinese restaurant, they are always under staff so that may compromise a bit in the service side. Brownie marks may be deducted by some main stream customers. However, as Asians we care more about the quality of food than the service. For good tasty traditional Chinese food, wonton noodle and congee, this is the place. This place is very busy, table booking ahead is recommended.
A new Chinese restaurant opposite of the Burquitlam Skytrain station. Parking stalls in the mall can considered as limited as they are shared with other businesses. Sitting in the restaurant is not that comfortable, as the square tables they have are quite tiny with chairs back-to-back. My husband and I went there for lunch on Saturday March 4, 2017 and it wasn't busy. We ordered a bowl of Hong Kong Sampan Congee C$6.25, Steamed Rice Roll with Salted Chinese Donut C$5, and Wonton in Oyster Sauce with Noodle C$8.50. The portions are quite big, especially the congee as it had a lot of "stuff" in it. The taste was good too. Going again for lunch with friends tomorrow!
So happy to have a new Chinese Restaurant in the neighbourhood. Great location, just across from the new Burquitlam Skytrain station.Visited on a Thursday night at 6PM. The place was busy but they accept reservations so our table was waiting.Ordered a great variety of dishes. The lobster deal in cream sauce, spicy green bean, sweet and sour pork, fried salt and spice pork chop, beef and gia lan, minced beef soup and rice. The plate size varies by dish, so the sweet and sour was very small. All the food had good flavour except for the soup. It was rather watery and bland. The service was good. Dishes were brought out hot and fresh. Only problem was that the meal took 1.5 hours. Not a fast food joint where the food is being pumped out.Overall, great addition! We will return but maybe earlier!
A belated birthday dinner recently, my ladies’ treat. We enjoy Chinese food, so I thought it was a perfect time to try a new restaurant in a nearby Coquitlam neighbourhood — the Grand Seasons is located within the small plaza directly across the street from Burquitlam Plaza and Skytrain Station. We (senior couple and daughter) arrived at the restaurant about 4 pm, and easily-found an available parking spot. We received welcome greetings upon entering, and were shown to a round table, located in a corner, with a great commanding view of the whole place. Once tucked in and seated, our server immediately brought hot tea (teapot and small mugs) and menus (dine-in lunch and dinner menus) to our table. The restaurant is a rather decent size, with tables-only seating, and a good assortment of table sizes (and the tables are not fixed in place, so can be moved about to accommodate varying group sizes). It had a nice clean, bright, and tidy look, and ’open’ feel about it. There was no music playing, just a tv on one wall, with the sound set low. We really liked and appreciated the ambiance.Service was cordial, friendly, timely, and helpful throughout our visit. And with their rather large and varied menu, we sure appreciated the initial help received when trying to make up our minds on what dishes to order. What I ordered ….. all dishes brought piping hot, and “looking good” (in portion sizes and preparations) from kitchen to our table:— House Special Chow Mein - w/dried noodles, mushrooms, onion, baby boy choy, and assortments of meats (pork, beef, chicken) and seafoods (squid, prawns, scallop) — Sweet and Sour Pork (ordered small size) - w/cubed and battered pieces of pork, veggies (green/yellow/red bell peppers, onions, and etc), and sauce — Beef, with Tomato and Scrambled Egg — Squid and Gai Lan, w/garlic — Green Beans with Spicy Minced Meat.Tasting the various dishes proved how well they had all been prepared. I believe I did good in selection of dishes ordered - we were able to try a good mix of various seafoods, meats, and veggies, along with the textures, and what I thought were some truly-distinctive flavours and tastes that accompanied each. Preparations were not greasy, or salty, the sauces tasted ’light’, and based in nicely-flavoured stocks, much more than oil, the textures, tender, and if anything, a touch undercooked (yea!). Some familiar-to-us names, but with some unique and tasty surprises. I am sure glad to have ordered more than I had to, it allowed us to try more, and my lady and I savoured the leftovers for dinner the next day. My ladies, and the Grand Seasons made “my day” — a much-enjoyed dining experience!
