To this day, I have never encountered a more authentic Uyghur restaurant in the Metro Vancouver area than this one. Everything was absolutely delicious and brought back memories of my childhood! Just one bite of the samsa transported me to those bustling streets filled with Uyghur food vendors. You can really tell that the noodles were hand-pulled, making them far superior to machine-made noodles. The portion sizes were also quite generous for food court fare. I'm so thrilled to have discovered this hidden gem. I drove all the way from Richmond to Coquitlam just for the food. The wait was a bit lengthy since it's a one-person operation, but it was definitely worth it. I truly hope the owner does well and is able to expand the restaurant someday!
I had the Lamb Shank Nan and Danpanji big plate chicken today. The chicken was a bit too spicy for my taste, but the handmade noodles were excellent. The lamb was perfect and not spicy at all! Just a heads up, there’s a 15-minute wait for each order.
If you’re looking for authentic Xinjiang cuisine, this is the place to be! You have to try the Polo – it’s a generous portion of lamb leg served with rice and incredible seasonings; I thoroughly enjoyed it! If you’re a fan of spicy food, the spicy rice noodles are fantastic. The noodles are slightly firm, but they won’t let you down. The thin-crust bao is outstanding, filled with well-seasoned minced lamb that’s juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I will definitely come back to explore more of the menu!
After indulging in Uyghur food in Central Asia, we were pleasantly surprised to discover Xinjiang food ten minutes drive from our home. Located in otherwise withering Henderson Place Mall, this place offers a very modest menu, but it's a perfect amount of dishes for us. One visit is not enough to try everything we want, but we are coming back for sure. We tried Lagman, Somen Lagman and Samsa. All dishes were delicious. Please keep in mind that despite being located in the food court, they still need 15-20 minutes to prepare your food, which is excellent news to me as many dishes are made to order, so please plan your visit accordingly.
This is one of my absolute favourite restaurants in Coquitlam, if not my absolute favourite. The lovely owner makes your meal fresh when you order it and the care that goes into every aspect of the delicious, flavourful, unique food here is very apparent. Make sure to go before you get hungry because the food isn?t fast, and the dish you want might be sold out long before closing. It?s all worth it because you know that you?re supporting people who make good, real food. Best lamb dishes ever!!
