Upstairs - Cork

Stumbled on this place after visiting the bookshop Next Door and trying to escape the rain. What a great find! Absolutely amazing sandwiches I’m the best mozerella and chicken chiabatta I have ever had. Also had the sweet potato and coconut soup which was incredible. Would definitely recommend.

Cafés Restaurants, sadly, come and go all too readily, but our own favourite Refuelling Stop in Clifden, County Galway, Upstairs-Downstairs , has, as we discovered on our latest visit (May, 2023 , actually been here for just over 20 Years : well done Orla, Wayne Team ! This is a No Frills operation, at the bottom of Main Street, (close to an excellent Bookshop the brilliant Whitethorn Gallery , offering excellent Coffees, Teas Snacks, in extremely friendly surroundings, at very moderate Prices. This time around, we once again savoured our Coffees Pastries, and greatly enjoyed a friendly chat with the personable Orla, who clearly does her utmost to warmly engage with all Customers, whether Local or Visitors : this admirable approach must, surely, be a major factor to the 20+ Year success of this excellent venue ? Third time here to take away food and yet again the owner was rude..we will not be back again for sure this time.

We come here a few times a year when we're in Clifden : Orla and her colleagues do a great job with a warm welcome for All, an unfussy, fairly-priced, high-quality Menu and excellent service ! Keep it up !

I'd recommend sitting upstairs if you want it quiet because the coffee machines are noisy downstairs.
