There were lots of people inside, always a good sign, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We ordered, in my wife's case, soup, and in my own, mackerel pate and toast. The two dishes took quite a time to come, so it was a good job we weren't in a hurry, but both were enjoyable. Our main criticism would be that the bread or, in my case, the toast served was pretty ordinary. Quite often in Cornwall, you get either a cheese scone or a chunk of garlic bread with your soup, but not here. I regretted that. But the service was courteous, and we enjoyed our visit. We would call again.
We made a visit to this restaurant for some food and had one of the best burgers I have ever tasted! The food was fantastic, the staff were friendly, and it's a lovely village pub.
We had dinner here on a Monday night in early Oct whilst staying in a local holiday cottage and wanting to meet up with local friends. As we all enjoy a quiz night, the Lemon Arms on a Mon eve was perfect so we booked! The 6 of us enjoyed starters and main courses and a couple of ice creams as desserts. Portions were large and tasty. I had seafood linguine which included lots of fresh big juicy mussels in their shells. The quiz was good too a particularly tough one that night apparently, but amazingly our team won it's free to enter, with prize being a free round of drinks. Sadly we couldn't make the most of our winnings due to several drivers in our group so our prize order included some cups of tea: A friendly local pub. Like the last reviewer, we had our dog with us and that worked fine.
We were looking for a local pub to eat at where we could bring our dog, it was a Monday and it was Quiz night so we booked an early table. We had the smoked mackerel pate and the seafood linguine and it was excellent. The fish was of good quality snd tasted really fresh. The mussels were really good! We returned the following night and I had the mushrooms and my partner had the bbq chicken burger which was enormous but really tasty. The food wasn’t expensive, the portions were big,the ales were great, the pub was full of locals and we got a good friendly welcome. The only possible negative thing I would say is that the tables were sticky but that’s all. We loved this pub.
We had'nt booked a table on the Bank Holiday evening and the pub was pretty full but the lovely lady behind the bar offered us the opportunity to sit outside which was fine. However, while we were waiting for our food to arrive a table for 2 became vacant inside the pub and we happily took that one. As we were sitting at the bar mulling over what to eat a gentleman next to us having heard our deliberations told us that in his opinion the pies were really, really good. Well, of course with that recommendation we both went for the steak and ale pie and were not disappointed. They were absolutely delicious. Came out piping hot and so full of beautifully tender beef they were fabulous. My chips were slightly anemic looking but it made no difference at all to the meal. All the staff were really helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. They do have a Quiz Night on a Monday night and so we were very lucky to get a space inside probably more sensible to book !!
