Don't take bookings so if you have to wait just go downstairs for a drink. Great food. Really attentive service and a great view! Thanks! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
I attempted to secure a table at this restaurant for three consecutive nights before finally succeeding on the third night. There was a lot of buzz surrounding this place, so my expectations were high when I finally got to visit. Unfortunately, the overall experience was quite disappointing and did not live up to the hype. The restaurant offers beautiful views and the service was excellent, with attentive staff. As someone who has had a lot of Thai food, I found the seafood jungle curry to be lacking in aroma and overly salty. If it weren't for the seafood, it would have been nearly inedible. It had the right level of spiciness, but was lacking in flavor. The jasmine rice was tasty, but the portion was too small considering the price. We also tried the Thai Collins and Fiery cocktails, but they were missing the expected kick of lemongrass from the lemongrass syrup. While the Fiery cocktail was decent with a nice hint of chili, the drinks overall fell short of expectations. There may be better dishes on the menu, but we chose not to order more as the food was underwhelming and overpriced. Despite this, Talay may still be a preferable option compared to other restaurants in the area, which could explain the hype. It's possible that this restaurant caters more to British or European tastes, but it did not quite hit the mark for us. In terms of service, we rated it a 4, with the food receiving a 2 and the atmosphere a 5. The price per person ranged from £10 to £20, and we visited for dinner.
An excellent dinner on one of the tables overlooking the port of Saint-Ives! The place gets crowded very quickly, so you should think about coming a little earlier to secure a table. The dishes are absolutely excellent, the curries plentiful and well prepared. Possibility of taking plenty of tapas for the table or one dish per person. Pleasant service. I had read good things about this restaurant and how busy it gets so tried my luck getting a table on a weekday evening. Unfortunately, there was a long wait which was disappointing! They have a pub downstairs if you fancy a drink or two while you wait for a call from them for when a table is available but I was not willing to wait that long for a table. Decided to do a takeaway instead as it was the food I was interested in. Placed the order online on their website and it was ready in good time. Chicken street style noodles, panang curry with prawns and coconut rice all blew our minds and exceeded my expectations of Thai food there. The portion sizes are good too. If you like Thai food, this place is a must visit. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Coconut Rice, Noodles
