Upon arriving without a booking, the waitresses welcomed and accommodated us with ease. The food was fresh, delicious and very satisfying. The wine (pinot Grigio blush) was a perfect addition to the meal, my only problem I had was that I couldn’t try all the...dishes on the menu. Highly recommend this place
Our experience of the restaurant was very good, the starters and mains were huge and of excellent quality, we had a very great time. I noticed the restaurant had some recent negative reviews and I'm certain the reviewers gave an honest opinion, but reading between...the lines it seems the restaurant was extremely busy at the time. Although this should not be an excuse I hope the BoatShed takes the reviews onboard and sees them as a positive to move forward and make this restaurant a great success which it is surely capable of doing. To sum up our experience of the BoatShed was excellent and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the restaurant.
We arrived at 7pm and were seated outside due to the restaurant being full. The staff were lovely and accommodated us inside when a table became free. After taking our order, the night out went downhill rapidly. One of our drinks was forgotten and after...asking several times, we eventually got the drink (which they immediately comped for free). The starters came out (nachos) but the food was very disappointing for such a simple dish. It was nachos with microwaved cheese on top!!! Not at all appetising. After then waiting an hour after the starters were cleared away, we asked a staff member how long our mains would be. She rudely shouted at us that YES should would check. We waited another 10 mins for her to reappear from the kitchen with an answer. She never appeared so we told another waitress we were leaving, paid the bill and left hungry. We went to the Chinese restaurant down the road for a delicious meal.
Our reservation was for 6.30pm and after a bit of confusion (they lost our booking) we were finally seated at 6.45. We ordered mussels to share as a starter and this arrived at 7.30pm. The mussels were really small and the portion was a lot...smaller than usual. Apparently they were running out of mussels and this was the reason for the smaller portion. At 8pm we asked where our mains were, to be told the kitchen was really busy- there were 3 other tables in the restaurant and that was it. The waitress told us that our mains were about to come out. Our mains arrived at 8.10pm. The sole tasted like soap but I was so hungry I just ate it any way. The ketchup came in individual sachets like at weatherspoons. At 8.25pm we asked for the bill. At 8.35pm we asked again for the bill. We had been told the mussels would be discounted because there was only a partial serving, however we were charged full price and had to mention to the server that she had told us the mussel would be discounted due to the small portion size. Avoid this place if you actually want to get out of here
