She had alerted the staff about her nut allergy, but when the dessert arrived, she suspected that it contained nuts. After confirming it, the dessert was sent back to the kitchen. We were all quite worried. The waitress offered a free coffee as an apology, but when I tried to accept it for the table, she said it was only for my daughter. The next morning, when checking out, the receptionist made a point of mentioning the free beverage my daughter had received. We were disappointed that after avoiding a potential medical emergency, the staff seemed to think a free coffee was sufficient compensation. Royal Duchy needs to improve customer service training for their staff in the kitchen, serving, and at reception.
The chef at this restaurant seems to have found the perfect balance between gourmet dining and healthy cuisine that suits my simple taste buds. However, what truly impressed me was the exceptional service. After experiencing poor service up north and in London, it was a pleasant surprise to encounter servers who were attentive without being overly subservient. Kudos to the staff for a job well done.
I went to this restaurant for Easter Sunday lunch, which cost £35. The service was excellent. However, I was disappointed with the food. The sea bass was bland and the salmon terrine was dry. The dessert, a dark chocolate tart with marmalade ice cream, was the highlight of the meal and delicious. Despite the affordable price, I expected more from a restaurant that advertised itself as a Michelin star. Overall, I was disappointed with my Easter dining experience.
Sunday lunch. Pros great dining room, lovely white table clothes, attentive service. Good starters, cheese and sweets. But let down by stewed watery vegetables guess not a vitamin in these at all. Tough beef, overcooked dry roast potatoes. Overly rich gravy. Dry Bread slices placed on table rather than choosing bread from a basket. We have been coming here over last ten years and it’s hit a low (but admittedly from a very high bar) . For £35 per person.
We booked for Sunday lunch with a friend and were very disappointed to sit at a scratched table with no cloths on it. When I rang to book I specifically asked if the restaurant had cloths as knew the bar didn’t. I was told yes. The waitress said that it was due to Covid! Why? The food was ok but only one choice of meat, beef, and the deserts were very poor. Ice cream in scoops, a chocolate torte or cheese. I expected a lot more from the Duchy hotel and was so glad it wasn’t for a celebration. It was also chilly. So many better places in Falmouth to have a Sunday roast. Many local pubs do a far better lunch in a more homely setting. Would not come again sorry.
