They were clearly busy with people collecting online and phone orders but service was excellent and it took about 10 minutes for our order to arrive. It was still piping hot after a 5 minute walk home and we were wowed by the spare ribs, which were plentiful and meaty! The squid and the shrimp chow mein were excellent as well. We come to St. Ives regularly and will be back for another takeaway soon.
We were in the mood for Chinese food for dinner tonight. Our usual restaurant was closed, so our only option was Yeungs. We called at 8:13pm and were told it would be a 20-minute wait. They did not offer delivery, even though their website states that delivery is available. We arrived at 8:40pm, but our meal was not ready and we had to wait an additional 10 minutes. When we finally got home and opened the barbecue sauce and ribs, which we were looking forward to, we were disappointed to find that they were extremely salty and inedible. We called right away and were told to bring it back for a replacement, as they do not offer refunds. The second meal we received was just as salty, so we insisted on a refund. We will not be ordering from here again, as both the service and the food were very poor.
Ordered the beef fried rice from here, the rice part was nice enough but the peas were hard and the beef was incredibly fatty, the chips were dry and tasteless despite being salt and pepper. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Ordered two set menus for delivery. Charged £10 extra for delivery, which I only found out about when the food arrived. Also food trays had collapsed in the bag, leaving a mixture of sauces slopping around in the bottom of the bag. On the upside, the food was hot and alright to be fair.
The food was cooked OK but all the dishes were bland and tasteless, the massive spring roll starter was all beansprouts and a few tiny pieces of meat.
