Their English was almost non-existent and our Portuguese was even worse but with lots of smiles and gesticulations we managed to order what turned out to be one of the best meals we have ever had. There were 4 in our party, 2 of whom had the tuna and the others had steak, 1 fillet and 1 sirloin. All of the food was prepared to perfection and the combinations of seasoning and sauces were sublime!Just writing this review has prompted us to make another reservation (or two!) before we have to go home.
This is a lovely restaurant just on the edge of town with attached parking. It feels very Portuguese and good for special meals and had good menu choices. My Tuna was the best I have eaten but the only reason it hasn't got 5 stars is that my husband's steak was gristly. The staff were pleasant and helpful - it's not quick servicebut a pleasant place to nibble while you are waiting.
A really good restaurant with a friendly, jazz-loving waiter and a talented chef who really knows what he is doing. Good to know - the chef has a relative who is coeliac so has a sound knowledge of gluten-free food. Delicious steak cooked exactly to our taste and the following night a sort of timbale of cod with lots of flavours. One of the tastiest main course salads I have ever had - you have the basics and then choose an extra five ingredients. I had it the next night as well because I expect it will be quite a while before I find anything so good. I tried the chocolate fondant one night and the caramel one the next - can't say which was more delicious. Poor coeliac had to make do with ice cream but never mind, he is well used to it. Great food while we were staying at the nearby Solar de Serrade, we will definitely eat here if in the region again.
Visited this restaurant twice, the food is delicious and well presented with a good varied menu, modern Portugese. The starter of cheese profiteroles is very good and there is a daily chefs recommendation . Deserts are lovely, especially the chocolate or caramel fondantsThe staff are polite and friendly, and the prices not at all expensive. A 3 course meal for six people with 2 bottles of wine, coffee and a celebration bottle of champagne for less than €120.
Excellent food, service and accommodation. Space very roomy and cosy. Loved the "Naco de Vitela". Consider also the dessert "fondant de caramelo." ( see photos) Alway place to park the car.
