If I could go back to high school and reapply to college I would take cortland off my list strictly due to the dining halls.Be prepared to leave both dining halls on an empty stomach and get ready to spend money on food off campus. This place is a joke.
Was a bright spot in town for excellent food and service, but sadly they are going to be remodeled and taken by another new venture in town, the Sure Shot Tap house. They had a plan to remodel a building a block away, but after finding out Bistro was closing, they thought they could get into business faster by remodeling it. Sadly this will close one of the best in town..
I enjoyed lunch here. It has a warehouse retro 1950's feel and was very clean. Staff were all cordial. I had the lunch Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad. It was delicious, but I did comment on the small serving size without redress.
We had high hopes for this imposter. Time and time again I see establishments who are confused about their identity and sadly can’t implement good management strategies. Why can’t we train servers how to serve. If you bring out chicken and it’s supposed to be salmon as you did. Why don’t you have a set protocol of how to handle it. So the Bistro fancies itself a bit classier than it is. You get above average price for sub par food. Our experience is to never order a 27$ steak at a place we have never been So the 15.00 sirloin was ordered, two to be exact both medium rare. One arrived Medium at best and one closer to proper. You can’t serve two different size steaks to the same table yet you did. So the meat was ok but my elderly mother said hers was so tough and bad that she wouldn’t let her dog eat it. Honestly it wasn’t that bad but its was not a 15$ piece of meat. One kids chicken breast and homemade mac and cheese.. The breast was thin and prepared well. Your homemade mac and cheese if Kraft.. period and if ain’t kraft then Sysco foods has it nailed.. homemade is a big fat lie. One order of Salmon and we were served thin chicken. Slow service means it took a second to get the fix going and believe me the place was empty so no excuse for the server or kitchen. Servers need a set protocol for how to handle. Never leave a guest with their potato and take the meat? Apologize and fix fast.. Never charge for a meal you screwed up. Specially when mom with kids will have kids done way first and restless. Then when you take for ever getting the salmon out do not let it be because you literally cooked the salmon to a white grey dusty texture, as you did. The worst part of all of this. The owner was at the bar the whole time watching and trust me.. aside from one other couple, we the only ones there. So he witnessed all of this and made no gesture, Did not even come over to see how we were or how the meal was. He is clearly not invested in this and it shows. The place is interesting inside because of some pedal cars.. Honestly it just looks like your every day sad sports bar.. Love the tin ceiling just not painted black.. You want bistro atmosphere.. lower the ceiling and the decibel. Warmer colors to set ambiance. Shorten your menu up further. Have a special for the month.. If you want to be classy and charge me 27$ for a good 6 oz filet then you better bring it. You want to be a sports bar then. Lose the good steaks. Keep serving that jerky we had and turn on some jams so we can shake it on the hideous checkered flag dance floor. I suggest driving by this place. You are not missing much.
