The grounds and decor were stunning and the event was truly unforgettable. However, the mansion itself could benefit from more restroom facilities, as the tented area only had a limited number of stalls for ladies. Despite this, the location was perfect for an outdoor event and we were fortunate to have good weather. The food and bands were provided by vendors, not the venue itself, but it was still a wonderful experience. Overall, it is a magnificent spot, although individual experiences may vary.
I used to frequent this restaurant in the 1970s when I lived in Putnam Valley. Back then, it was just an average restaurant at best. There were plenty of other restaurants in the area that served much better food. However, the views from the restaurant were always amazing. Unfortunately, it seems that no one has invested the necessary money to maintain and improve the restaurant over the years. It has the potential to be a five-star establishment, but the dining experience is more like a one-star. If there were any rich and famous people left in New York State, it could potentially be a hidden gem for them. LOL.
The Lobster Fest was amazing! The venue was beautiful with stunning views of the Hudson River. We enjoyed dining outside under the tents and the lobster and raw bar were excellent. The bluegrass band added to the fantastic atmosphere, making it a great event overall.
DO NOT COME HERE FOR MOTHERS DAY. This has been some very lousy service because they decided to RENT a catering staff. For real? You don't even have your own staff working on a big day like Mother's day? We paid $260 for 3 people and after 45 minutes, we went to speak to the manager because we were never given a menu! The money we paid is not worth this; completely understaffed, mediocre food and horrible service. I expected better from here because of such high praise from friends and family. UPDATE: We have just learned they underestimated the quantity of food they needed and had to go out to get food. This is just sad.
We recently dined at one of the most beautiful restaurants we have ever visited. This is the third renovation of the restaurant in the past 25 years at this location. The interior has been refurbished in a warm and comfortable style. The current menu is limited but will expand with the changing seasons, and it does not list the ingredients of their dishes, leaving us pleasantly surprised. We started our meal with Baby Clams and Lobster Meat, Small Sausage slices, and Fingerling Potatoes, all smothered in a delicious Brown Sauce. The flavors were incredible! The Roasted Bone-in Chicken with Pureed Carrots and Swiss Chard was simple and delicious. The Roasted Boneless Duck was perfectly cooked, moist, and flavorful, and was served with Roasted Sweet Potato slices, crunchy Green Beans, and Cranberries, all of which were delightful. For dessert, we shared an Apple Brandy Crisp, which was also outstanding. We paired our meal with a good Pinot Grigio. Our server, Adam, was very attentive, as was the entire staff. Ray, the Restaurant Manager, informed us that they plan to utilize the 27-acre property for outdoor dining and will be adding a Tapas menu as the seasons change. We are looking forward to returning. This restaurant is a must-visit for any food lover.
