We started with the duck parfait and then had the chateaubriand, which was cooked perfectly (medium rare). The staff were attentive and friendly, and the service was prompt. The drinks were a bit pricey, but that's to be expected at a hotel. We found the house red wine to be quite good for around £30. Overall, we would recommend dining at The Swan and suggest not letting negative reviews sway your decision. We had a fantastic experience.
A group of friends meet up once a year just to catch up. If you believe that paying over £40 for fish and chips (a small piece of haddock barely warm in a thin batter) and a pudding (likely bought in because it was good) is worthwhile, then you will enjoy this restaurant. The building is lovely and the location is great, but the food is of lower quality compared to average cheap pub fare, yet four times the price.
On our first trip to Bibury on 26 September, my wife and I decided to stop by a restaurant. We were enticed by the offer of a cream tea, and we were definitely not let down. The scones were delicious, with both plain and fruit options, and served with plenty of cream and jam. To top it off, we were able to enjoy our tea on the front terrace in the lovely weather.
I booked a table recently for Sunday lunch (at 12:15) although there was only one other table in use (inside) when we arrived so I don't think a booking was necessary (although there were a number of outside tables in use). The staff were all very friendly and the food was generally very nice, the broccoli was a little too al-dente and personally I would have liked the roast potatoes to be crispier but it was all still very tasty. The beef was cooked perfectly and the Yorkshire pudding was delicious!
Visited for an afternoon tea for a joint 50th birthday celebration. We booked a month in advance and chose here because it offered a vegan version on the website. Received 2 confirmations of this so were disappointed on arrival to be told vegan version not actually offered. Non vegans enjoyed their afternoon tea. I had mushroom on toast, which was fine, but a long way to travel from West Mids for that. Staff polite but lacking warmth. Setting delightful.
