River Oaks Golf Course And Event Center

The course is in great shape except hole #13 is not being used. They have a temporary par 3 as a substitute. A $5 voucher was provided to each of our group to use in the bar/restaurant for our trouble. There is some irrigation work being done on the back nine which would come into play on errant shots.

It was very overpriced and terrible service. There was a ranger that took a wedge from the side of the green that was my friends while we were playing the hole. Then came and yelled at us for being behind the pace of play because we wasted 15mins for the club and ball that he stole. Then got home and realized we were overcharged by $40 after the golf shop employee lied about the price that he was charging us. Strongly recommend playing a different course for less money like eagle valley.

I live in Woodbury and play Eagle Valley on a regular basis. It had been a couple years since playing River Oaks, both courses cost about the same but the difference in conditions is night and day. River Oaks is in excellent condition. Fairways, ruff and greens are lush. Greens run true and have some pace. Even the bunkers were well kept with good sand. The clubhouse area is clean and driving range well managed. Overall it is obvious they are going for a good golf experience. My only critque of River Oaks is that holes 10 18 are poorly designed holes. EV on the other hand looks to be doing what ever they can to cut costs. From mid June thru August the ruff will be burned out and the ground will be very hard. Greens will be slow because they verticut and are inconsistent with little break. They spent years taking out and cutting down bunkers all in effort to make it easier and faster to maintain. EV has the better overall layout, but the conditions are poor especially in the summer months. Also, River Oaks runs 10 minute tee times and EV does 8.

Nice course and the pulled pork sandwich was delicious.

Food was good, views were excellent. Staff was great. Awesome patio..
