The Black Truffle - County Durham

A friend recommended this place to us and we were pleasantly surprised. The homemade cakes were delicious and the coffee was excellent. The staff was also top-notch.

The restaurant has good seating, music, and decor. The homemade cakes looked very nice as well. However, we were disappointed with the weak and tasteless coffee and mocha we ordered. Despite being hot, we didn't enjoy them and did not order another round. The restroom, which appears to have been a small shower room in the past, was poorly lit and in need of a thorough cleaning. There was no staff cleaning schedule in sight, which was concerning for hygiene reasons. We ultimately decided to go to a different café instead.

While on holiday from Suffolk, my wife and I visited Seaham for the first time and stumbled upon this coffee shop. We were impressed by how clean and bright it was. My wife enjoyed a latte and teacake, while I opted for a hot chocolate. I always prefer my coffee drinks and hot chocolate to be piping hot so I can savor it slowly, and this one was perfect. It was one of the best I've had. (I also failed to mention the excellent table service they provide.) We were so impressed that we returned for lunch around 2pm. We both had BBQ Chicken Paninis cooked to perfection, along with a delicious strawberry and almond cake. I had another hot chocolate, of course. The staff and service were excellent, making us feel welcomed and valued. The place was very clean with quick service. I definitely recommend it.

We left after nearly twenty minutes of being ignored. Waitress looked at us and walked past us numerous times but no interest in taking an order. Other people came in and were served straight away. We took our custom elsewhere

Popped in today and loved it! The decor is fab, the music choice was great (ABBA Gold playing!! , lovely to see the staff cheery and singing along at times and all members were polite and professional. I ordered the Biscoff Cheesecake, when the waitress asked my partner again he said the Biscoff Slice so that disappointment was my partner's fault. Any way, that was short lived because the Biscoff Slice was AMAZING!!! The lattes were very good too! Three of us ate and drank and the price was very reasonable. We are hoping to return to Seaham again so we will definitely be returning.
