Visited the hotel for sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. The welcome was warm and courteous and the food was absolutely superb. It was cooked to perfection, ample servings and excellent value for money. We finished off with a round of drinks in the lounge with fabulous views across Weardale. A day to remember!
I made a reservation online for a room at a hotel, only to arrive and discover that the hotel had permanently shut down. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed.
I had a wonderful experience at this charming historic hotel. The staff were fantastic, the chef and food were great. I highly recommend trying the prawn cocktail with a twist and the rump steak with blue stilton sauce. The Argentinian bartender was friendly and very helpful. The location in Durham was perfect and they even gave us a route planner when we had trouble with directions. I will definitely be returning in the future.
I went to the restaurant for lunch and to take another look around, as my fiancé and I are getting married there in 9 weeks. We dined with a friend and three children. The staff were all very friendly and eager to help. My 5-year-old daughter wanted paper and crayons (a must-have for her) and was delighted when she got them. She also enjoyed the chicken nuggets and chunky homemade chips, which were delicious. I had the steak and ale pie, which was filled with tender chunks of steak and had a perfect pastry. We had a great experience and are looking forward to returning for a christening on Sunday.
