Wildbrumby Schnapps - CRACKENBACK

Staff were very pleasant,good variety of beers and coctails , food was nice but snitzel burger was a little dry, goulash serve a little small and sticky date cake a bit stodgy.

I’ve been here twice before and food was excellent. Not so this time. Food was of quality that it seemed to be precooked or frozen and just heated up. Veal schnitzel burger was dry, dumplings heavy and stodgy and sticky date pudding gluggy. Bistro quality at its best but restaurant prices. We were very disappointed.

Very popular restaurant with novel bits and bob's. A large still occupies the floor space and walls, shelves and rafters are festooned with nick nacks! Food is bistro quality, perhaps a little overpriced! The sausage plate at $25 which is two BBQ bratwurst, could have another type included for variety sake. Perhaps a flesh wurst or other. I was disappointed with the sticky date dessert pudding. Ir was a cupcake presentation with a tiny dollop of ice cream and cream and sauce. The cake was a gluggy imitation of sticky date and needs to be improved. The Austrian wheat beer was delicious and served in tall glasses.A very nice Beer! Outside on the grass lawns was a collection of plastic animals, carved rocks and zany pieces that pass for modern art these days. As a distillery the emphasis is on selling the local spirits. Gin and Schnapps are popular.

We emailed a few days ahead to order the GINdabyne Perfect Picnic Hamper which we arranged to pick up. The place was packed and seemed to be reservations only so you dont want to bank on a walk in table being available. We paid for our hamper and drove to the national park for our picnic. The hamper was fabulous and definitely good value for money with pickles, dip, cheeses, crackers, smoked trout, fresh bread, a bottle of gin and some tonic water with an orange for a garnish. Also included was a cooler bag, plates and cutlery as well as a picnic blanket although it was so windy we ended up eating in the car! The trout and horseradish dip were standouts but, honestly, it was all great and the perfect amount for two people. The photos and description on the website were accurate as well.
