I recently visited this Cajun restaurant and while the food was decent, it fell short of my expectations for an authentic Cajun dining experience. While the menu had many of the typical Cajun dishes, the execution of the recipes did not quite live up to what I had hoped for. The food was somewhat bland and lacked the bold flavors and spices that are typically associated with Cajun cuisine. Some of the dishes were also a bit too greasy and heavy for my taste, leaving me feeling a bit underwhelmed overall. While the atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant enough, the service was not particularly noteworthy. Our waiter seemed to be going through the motions and was not particularly attentive to our needs. While I can appreciate the effort to bring Cajun flavors to a non-Cajun region, I would not consider this restaurant to be an authentic Cajun dining experience. That being said, if you're in the mood for some basic Cajun dishes, it could be worth a try.
30 minutes for a snow cone. Food is not authentic Cajun as well. I would not eat there again unless I had hours to wait.
The gumbo was not the best. The rice was hard and there was barely any meats in the meal. It tastes more like a bowl of rice and roux.
The food truck was parked right at the end of my street the other day, disrupting my plans to go to Alpaca once again because I couldn't think of anything else I was in the mood for. However, I always have a craving for crawfish etoufee! The etoufee was loaded with small crawfish tails and had a fresh flavor thanks to the green peppery base. This was a nice contrast to the chicken and smoked sausage gumbo, which was rich in Cajun spices. I wished the sausage had a stronger smoky flavor, as it was overpowered by the spiciness of the stew. Surprisingly, I was most impressed with the fried okra; it was perfectly fried and crispy with a dough similar to beignets, and the okra wasn't slimy at all. Even after it cooled down, it still tasted delicious.
