However, I was not greeted when I entered for about a minute, which put a bad tone on my experience, especially since I was the only customer in the spacious restaurant. The barista finally acknowledged me after a minute when he was preparing a drink for someone else at the counter. I ordered a cappuccino, but it didn't have much foam. I did appreciate the effort to make it visually appealing with a design in the foam. The barista and I had a nice conversation afterwards, although I did appreciate his friendliness.
The restaurant has recently reopened, and the staff are friendly, but the service is very slow and inefficient. I had to repeat my order five times and even had to correct the cashier's mistake to the barista. When I finally received my latte, it was empty, and then when they remade it, it turned out to be a milk coffee instead of a dirty chai. I really wanted to love this place, as it is the only one of its kind, but the staff need to be better trained. The cashier should write the order on the coffee cup so the barista doesn't have to repeatedly ask for clarification. The food was tasty, but they forgot part of my order, so I had to remind them. I hope they improve because I want this to be my go-to spot for coffee and brunch. The interior is charming and the lattes and brunch were wonderful. The only downside was the lack of fruit on my waffle. Despite some issues, I would still return, especially for brunch or to study. If this place was in a bigger city, it would be crowded, but the prices might be a bit high for a small town.
I adore this restaurant! The coffee is fantastic, the food is delicious, and the service is wonderful. Anyone passing through Crookston should definitely check out this place. It's absolutely fantastic.
I have eaten twice here, one because back (only opened after cof) and the second time just a few weeks before I sat down on writing this review. both of them I was very satisfied with the food and service. there are not many restaurants in crookston, let alone good. the truth is that I was only really satisfied at two places in the city, and one of them is cof. cof is located in a pretty drab, easy to miss building on the east side of the highway 2 from the city in direction grand forks. it does not look like much from the outside, but the inner is warm and welcoming with many kitschigen decorations hanging just over everywhere they look. for coffee lovers cof s barista can find all standard coffee and espresso drinks that they find in a certain unnamed but ubiquitous chain. for those who hungry cof s menu contains a lot of salads, sandwiches and wraps. Usually they have a suppe du jour but when I was there (on the gedenktag supp)e was not available. both paintings I ate at cof I ordered a sandwich, the last time it was a reub. all the essential components were there a generous stack of baked bark meat, molten black cheese, crunchy herb, a Russian style dressing, all between slices of beautiful grilled roggenbrot. it was not top notch new york deli quality, but it tasted good and I would order it every day. beer and wein are also available at cof. the small beer list included several regional craft brews. my surly furious ipa was pretty good and nice supplemented my reuben. still a small but important thing to note: the menu prices at cof mirror a cash discount. if they have to use a credit card or debit card, a percentage of their bill is added to cover the merchant's processing fees. In my opinion, this is actually an intelligent strategy that is beneficial for both business and cash-paying companies. most merchants who accept plastic decide to pay the processing fees in their overhead and their menu prices include these fees. whether a customer uses a card or not, they pay the fee. the choice to pay with cash (for a discount) or card (for a small fee), allows the consumer and protects the dealer. it's win-win as I see it.
This place is everything you'd ever want your local coffee shop to be. The decorations are fantastic and make the place feel very cozy. The employees are kind and helpful and the drink menu is quite extensive. I will definitely be returning whenever I'm in the area! Side note- hands down the creamiest and most delicious chia tea latte I've ever had
