We Yelped this place and walked from the Boston Commons. It was perfect! The server behind the counter was friendly and the food was great. Very fresh seafood. I always get a salad base instead of rice to cut back on the carbs and I appreciated that this place offered spiraled zucchini noodles as a base option. We would totally go here again if it there was a location in Vegas.
Just went to go grab lunch and noticed a dead cockroach on the food prep station, next to the raw fish, they hadn't even noticed it. They continued to prepare bowls as if it was totally normal.
When oh when will Boston get a genuinely GOOD poke spot????? I tried Poke City in yet another attempt to finally find a place to get my poke fix. Unfortunately, I was let down yet again. First off, WAY too much rice. I opted for both rice and salad, which was a mistake. My bowl was piled with the most rice I've ever had in a poke bowl, and the salad was romaine???? I always get salad in my poke bowls and never once had romaine. The texture and flavor of romaine do not go with poke flavors whatsoever. I was expecting to get spring mix like other poke restaurants have. I also got the three protein bowl $17.95) which was a waste of money because for the amount of fish I received, it seems like I got the two protein option. Lastly, one of the sauces I got sesame ginger aioli) was just not it. It was way too overpowering to the point where I could hardly taste anything else in the bowl. I hate getting food from a restaurant and feeling like I completely wasted my money. Unfortunately, that's what happened here.
I was excited to have a healthy lunch option when this place opened and wanted to love it. However, two experiences changed my mind 1. a co worker got food poisoning from lunch, and 2. i noticed my blood sugar (using a CGM) always spiked after, even after a poke bowl over zucchini. I emailed them to ask the ingredients in the seaweed salad and poke city sauce (the only things I could think of) and they responded a couple times but refused to answer the actual question, so my best guess is they use high fructose corn syrup. Not a healthy option and could use some work on transparency.
I had a two-protein (tuna and salmon) poke bowl with brown rice base. It was very good and service was very fast. There were a lot of additional topping options and there’s a very small seating area if you want to dine in. I highly recommend the place for a good value and quick dinning option.Vegetarian options: Just build a custom bowl and choose the vegetarian toppings you want!
