Huge buildup of flies and grime on the radiator, fridge full of grime and bits of old moldy food, bath does not look like it has ever been cleans. Bed sheets stained, as well bed cover and pillows stained. Walls dirty, drunk people wandering the halls. Do not stay here. Service: 1
Great for couples on a road trip that like to hang out at night, walk around the town and take in the sunset. Check out to he graveyard up the hill... it's pretty unique. Rooms: 4 Service: 4 Location: 5
HOTEL HAS MICE BAD MANAGEMENT We had the worst experience at this hotel. We booked a family room (202 for the weekend for our friends wedding. When we got there it wasn't bad! It smelled fresh and the presentation was decent for an old hotel (I love historic places . We were impressed. However, arriving to the room, IT WAS NOT AS ADVERTISED. Regardless, we decided to stay and make it work. We're hanging out in our room and all of a sudden we here a big thump come from the ceiling of the bathroom (there are ceiling tiles . My husband listened and could hear mice. We heard them more then once. We decided to go down to the front desk to ask to have this taken care of. We were told they would send someone up to look. We had a dinner to attend to at 6 so we left hoping it would get fixed while away, as promised. When we got back at 830, we learned that it wasn't even looked at. They had NOTHING and NOBODY to fix this issue. We asked to switch rooms but they were fully booked. So again, we decided to stay. We weren't upset or anything! Completely understood stuff happens and again were willing to make it work. However, my kids wouldn't use the washroom so we had no choice but to switch hotels entirely that same night. We didn't spend one single night at this hotel. It was a HUGE inconvenience for us to switch. It was more money forked out. It was stressful for our kids and it was late. To top this all off, the owner won't give me back the other half of my money even though he told his front desk clerk 3 TIMES that he would refund me. I wouldn't leave or book the other hotel until I knew what was happening. He completely lied to us. This whole situation is completely unacceptable. The way this hotel is operating is horrible. One of the employees even quit after all of this as this isn't the first shady thing they've done. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE if you want an enjoyable trip and don't want your money stolen. EDIT: Someone did NOT look at the room. I called AHS to inspect this hotel for mice as nobody else did anything. It was probably all cleaned up because they knew they were in the wrong. It has been two weeks so that was plenty of time. This isn't the first complaint about this hotel just in the past MONTH alone! They've also been reported to the BBB which is why he's FINALLY responding to me. This manager lives in BC. He has no respect for his staff, guests or the hotel in general. He doesn't even have maintenance on site! I will leave a negative review everywhere I can because people need to be warned about hotels/people like this. Oh and I very much do respect hospitality staff which is why i was nice every single time I've spoken to someone from there. Yet not receiving one single phone call back about my complaint. Maybe you should take the same advice : Maybe a management course so you can understand how to run a hotel and treat people properly. I hope this review helps people choose the right hotel in Blairmore. THE KANATA INNS was SO LOVELY!!! HIGHLY recommend! Noteworthy details: There are MICE in this hotel and BAD management.
Worst service ever. Took forever to even check in and get keys as hotel front desk staff was out smoking and bar staff had to go find her. One of the keys didn 't work. Room was NOT as advertised. Family room was supposed to have 2 double and 1 queen bed. It didn 't. Instead it had 2 doubles and a small pullout sofa that was so old it was bowed in the centre and there were springs sticking through the mattress. There was NO bedding or pillows in the room for this bed and it took staff almost an hour to locate some. Their only family room is located directly over the bar so the whole night we listened to music so loud it shook the beds. My children were unable to sleep at all. A call to the front desk required me to use my cell phone as the room phone was broken and didn 't work. There was a tile hanging from the bathroom ceiling, the counters and toilet were dirty, there was mold in the tub surround and on the ceiling. There was an open outlet with random stray cords just hanging from the wall, totally unsafe! There was also holes in the wall, the window wells, and paint chipping all over the room. The only reason we even stayed was because it was SO late when we arrived after traveling all day and the kids were tired. Never again! I asked that front desk staff have a manager call me in the morning, but no one ever did call me. There was no one even around to check out with in the morning; just an open, unlocked box on the desk that said 'put room keys here '. What an awful stay and horrible service. I sent an email requesting a refund as they will not answer their phone or return my calls. No answer so far. Avoid this place at all costs, especially if you are traveling with family/children.
Our experience was awful. We arrived and were told our room was double booked after further calls to the owner a room magically appeared. When we arrived in the room the room was not clean. Sheets stained towels were dirty. No one works at the lobby so there is no one to ask for new towels sheets or even just questions. We wanted to support local and stay here rather then the travel lodge will not make that mistake again. Do not recommend which is super sad. When I called the owner to see if anything can be done he did not care.
