Eventually got through to Clarion 's general reservations number (0808 1453778) and persevered through the many pointless menu options. Asked for the direct number for the Croydon Park Hotel. Was told they could put me through. After a very long wait, my call was answered by the hotel 's reception (or so I thought as that 's how they answered). I asked if their bar was open, if, as non-residents, we could use their carpark and if it was necessary to reserve a table. I was told the bar was open, that we could use their underground parking and that it was not necessary to reserve a table. She even went so far as to say we look forward to seeing you this evening ! When we arrived, at what looked like a derelict building, there was an A4 sheet of paper stuck to the door saying that the hotel was closed! Clarion are an unprofessional, unhelpful hotel chain staffed by incompetent employees.
I stayed here for 4 nights in February, hotel was absolutely fine however I would not recommend eating there, staff had very poor customer service skills, and were clearly untrained, more often than not I was stood at the bar waiting to be noticed while staff stood on their phones or talking amongst themselves. one night I was waiting so long I went up and asked a member of staff where my food was only to be told by said member of staff it had been sat out the back for over 5 minutes which raises the question why didn't someone bring it to me?. Another time my chicken bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich was delivered without any chicken. On my final night when I was waiting for my order to be taken I was finally served only for the member of staff to disappear out the back midway through my order to go and asked management a query on how to use the tills only for him to return with plates of food to take to the tables Galway through me placing my order. In all fairness I don't blame the staff I blame the management for lack of training and leaving untrained members of staff in the deep end on their own without proper training.
This was the worst Christmas lunch I've ever had! I attended a work Christmas lunch here and they had run out of food. The buffet line was too long, so I ended up only eating cheese. The carrots were not worth the wait. The prices were too high and the plates were dirty. My soul needs saving after this experience!
Booked by booking.com, got the confirmation email sent to my phone. The hotel couldn’t find our booking for about 20 mins. Then because I was paying by cash, upfront for the room breakfast, I had to show ID pay £50 for a deposit. The swimming pool is closed and the lift doesn’t work. We had to use the staff lift to get to our 4th floor room. As a little treat to ourselves, seeing that we couldn’t have a swim we ordered room service, 2 x tomato soups, southern fried chicken wrap burger chips. The food came to £36, we swallowed that as it’s a treat for us. But all the food was cold. Nice freezing cold tomato soup, with no butter for the roll and no salt for the chips only 50 packets of pepper. Then just as we finished this feast, a random person with a key try’s to get into our room. My husband calls out, “what do you want ? “. They got scared went away. Then the hotel reception rings us in our room asks if someone tried to enter the room. I said yes, he said, he sent the person to see if we were in the room. Then he asks me for my name, what time time did we check in ? I told him said, this hotel experience is like something from a comedy night out, if my husband me didn’t have a sense of humour, we would have grab our bags got the hell out of dodge. Hopefully we re get a good night sleeps a decent breakfast , but I m not holding my breath. Next time I ll book somewhere else, that isn’t here. The only redeeming feature is the room shower is very clean. I really I m trying to find a positive out of this. £122.60 for the room breakfast. Plus £50 for deposit. I m sure we could find in the Croydon surrounding areas better than this experience.
