Urban Orient - Croydon

After reading the previous reviews, I decided to try the vegan duck with peanut sauce at this restaurant. I was not let down. There were multiple vegan options available on the menu, so if the duck is not your preference, there are other choices to choose from. However, the vegan duck was delicious and reasonably priced at £11.50 for a sit-down restaurant. The staff were also friendly and accommodating.

As suggested by others, I ordered the mock duck and wasn't disappointed! The duck is soft, fatty and melts in the mouth accompanied by a mouth watering marinade. It was so realistic I had a mini freak out thinking they had given me the real thing! We also had the tofu soup which was fantastic a really clean, warming base with enough veg and chilli to fight off all the winter cold outside! Spring rolls were really yummy too the only let down was the veg dumplings which weren't steamed enough and were a little hard. It's a cosy little place with a great interior and wide selection of drinks. We will definitely head back to try the tofu curry and the summer rolls!

Urban Orient doesn't have a wide selection of vegan dishes, but I decided to try the mock duck with rice and sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! While I don't typically eat mock meats, I found this dish to be very enjoyable and would definitely return just for this particular item.
