There aren't a lot of restaurants in DeSoto, so they kinda had a captive audience. We hadn't been to the new location because it wasn't as convenient, until last weekend when we had an out of town visitor. I was not very impressed with the new location. Despite the unique decorations that adorned the walls at the old location, the building looks like an old jewelry store from 1950. I knew things weren't the same when I opened the menu and several of the items were crossed off. When we ordered our drinks, it seemed that half of the flavors were out. Food took a long time considering we were one of only about 4 tables, and the food was lacking the quality that we were used to. To top it all off, when I went to the bathroom, it was still from 1950, but someone painted over the ceramic tile, and it was peeling all over the place. There are so many other places to eat in Crystal City, the market is too saturated for a place like this to survive. I sure wish this restaurant could have stayed in DeSoto. The move could quite possibly be the death of it.
Everything is homemade!! So if you have to wait, it's because they are making it from scratch. WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!!!!!
It was odd eating out of dog bowls. The serving sizes are huge. The wait staff was great.
The Doghouse is a family favorite. The fried chicken is excellent, but I'm a burger gal myself. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger on the donut! Yes, I ate that whole thing, and I'd do it again!!!!
Food was decent. Very accommodating. Wait staff was very pleasant.
