Limited dinner options, but they will adapt to your desire. We must stay an additional day because of a late winter snowstorm; they have broadened our rate and kept us in the same room. The only negative is to be on a two meal plan, even if we don't technically check today, we can't have lunch instead of dinner, which I would have preferred because of other options. Or a nice escape.
I have warmed my expectations based on reviews and so was not disappointed by my stay. We had a great, relaxing weekend and I think it would be even better in warm weather as there are plenty of places and seats for outdoor lounge. However, we participated in winter activities as snow hose and ice skating, both very funny. And they all had the right equipment so we could still walk. I think the biggest mental separation is that you pay for a 5-star experience while the hotel is solid 3 stars. I hope they really care and compensate their staff well. The food was as expected, decent buffets and ok dinner. The biggest and not expensive improvement they could make it the improvement of dinner bread. They give every table a whole foliage, but the texture is not great and it tastes like nothing. Sure they can do better. Another handle is that they only very weak black coffee (but kudos for providing oat milk! . An espresso costs $6. Another thing I liked was that she offered genuine vegans and GF desserts. As a rule, when I ask, I will be offered a shovel of strawberry or something. They honestly had vegan cakes that were very delicious. All employees we interacted with were very pleasant. I was left by the spa as I had read several reviews about “best massage ever.” I got the neck and shoulder massage, expected that the therapist really come in and work on my many knots, but despite the demand for all the pressure it was very easy and did not provide any relief. If you want a massage that makes you sleep, it's for you. I enjoy spending a few hours in the spa and immersing in and out of the facilities and reading in between. The outdoor pool is very nice in cold weather, but offers only 9 people. I would like to come back during the spring-summer case, but it's so expensive that we can't afford it.
1. Mohonk and every spa. I'll wait so long. But there is no time like the present. Spent 2 nights a week as a couple. Although some of the more interesting trails were closed. Still much to occupy our time and give reason to return. We will. Can't say enough about the hospitality of the staff. Everyone we met wore a real smile and ready to help when asked. The landscape and facilities are spectacular and well maintained. Telled many guests who repeated customers. Easy to see why.
This was our fourth time at the Mohonk Mystery weekend, which has become a much beloved tradition for me and my two young adult children. We get so with the word puzzles, escape space and murder mystery that we hardly have time in ice skating, a bathroom in the pool, a walk around the grounds and a game of billiards. (If a Monhonk manager reads this, PLEASE move the billiard table into a larger room or place half-length Cue Sticks. With such a huge resort it is quite sad that you cannot find a really big room for the pool table). The food is delicious and the servers are very ready for special diets. The buffet contains gluten-free, vegetarian, nutrient-free etc. Food marked, but sometimes there are additional options that are not available unless you ask – like GF Toast or GF Pasta. Our large, renovated room has 2 comfortable queen-size beds, a pull-out sofa, a desk, 2 dressers, a wardrobe, a built-in shelf/storage area, comfortable chairs and tons of light. Dimly illuminated rooms are a pet of me, so I really appreciate the many lamps. Even if you do not participate in their special weekends, Mohonk is a great resort with a little something for everyone. Just bring your comfortable hiking shoes, as the hotel and the grounds are expansive.
We were looking for a long weekend away and thought Mohonk might fit the bill. It happened to be Mohonk’s famous “mystery weekend” we had no clue in what was involved but joined in the fun, met some fantastic guests and had a very, very good time…. Would definitely do it again…. In addition to the great hikes we went on and the food which was incredibly good
