My mother raved about this place, claiming it has the best birria tacos she's ever had. The staff was very friendly, and the kitchen crew appeared to be in good spirits, which is always a positive sign. The bathrooms were clean, and there are plenty of seating options available.
Large Mexican cuisine and atmosphere, Tacos Al Pastor
The food was delicious, and the service stayed friendly even during the busy times. Unfortunately, sitting at the bar wasn't the best choice because the Mariachi trumpet was aimed right at my ear. However, the male singers harmonized well with the music, which was clearly a hit with the crowd, and the margaritas looked amazing. I’ll have to return to try one, especially if I’m not in for a long drive afterwards. While it may not quite compare to my experiences in Mexico City or what I'm used to in California, this is definitely the best Mexican restaurant I’ve found in Rhode Island.
Sadly, the food left my husband feeling ill the next day. The meat I ordered was subpar; I tried to cook it on the grill, but the quality was not impressive, and the cheeses tasted like they came from a bag, leaving a powdery residue on our palates. The vegetables also had a stale taste, suggesting they might be using bouillon cubes or packaged seasonings. The service was disappointing as well. We had to repeatedly ask for utensils, napkins, and water throughout our visit. Our waitress seemed unaware of her surroundings, spending most of the evening chatting with other staff at the entrance. On a brighter note, the Mariachi band entertained my nephew with a few Selena songs and popular regional Mexican tunes, which I found delightful. However, our experience took another turn when we noticed that the waitress automatically added a tip to our bill without our consent, despite it being a small table of fewer than five people. I generally do not tip, but I would have considered it given the circumstances—if it hadn’t been for the forced 20% charge. While I refrained from filing a complaint, partly justifying it by thinking that the Mariachi band needed to be compensated, I won’t be returning to this restaurant. The combination of poor service, mediocre food, and what I perceived as discriminatory practices—such as longer wait times compared to the male patrons at adjacent tables—has left a sour impression. Overall, if you're looking for a good taco, there are plenty of other places to consider. Bandidos needs to step up its game.
The food and drinks are always on point with an exceptionally great staff to compliment the dining experience. Nice variety of dishes that blend different Mexican elements to give one multiple can't go wrong choices. The bar delivers with great beer choices and excellent margaritas.
