Charco Broiler Steak House - Dallas

The service here is fantastic, and I'm sure the other dishes are enjoyable. However, I have to be honest—the steak was truly awful. The Ribeye was so thin it could have been mistaken for a skirt steak. There was no seasoning whatsoever; it seemed like they simply threw the raw meat on the grill without any preparation. I would advise against spending your money on the steak.

The food was delicious, but I found it a bit overpriced for the portion sizes. Each meal included a baked potato, which seemed like a way to reduce the amount of meat served. However, the food tasted great, and the atmosphere was pleasant. If I could, I would rate it 3.5 stars.

I've enjoyed Charco Broiler for years but have stuck to my Chicken Fried steak or burgers which have always been good. I thought I'd try the Rib Eye this time as I'd been craving it and it's too dang hot to fire up my own grill. I asked for medium. The cut was a good size. The cook was a bit under which left the fat un rendered and texturally odd but it it looked juicy so I didn't send it back. (Should have gone with my first instinct) First bite was a disappointment. It was obviously dropped straight from the fridge on a not hot enough grill. NO FLAVOR AT ALL. No seasoning, no rub, not even a pleasant grilled taste. Kept having to spit raw fat into a napkin (which no lady should have to do). I ended up drowning it in Heinz 57 which upset me. I am of the belief that a good steak needs no sauce. Thank goodness the salad you get is a good size and their baked potato was filling. Their lemon meringue pie was good and so was the service but I expected more from a steak house with a big ole steer on the roof.

If you imagine a Texas Steakhouse not a chain but something from yesterday. No nonsense, Steak and Potatos, a salad some sides . . .This is that place. You get the idea when you arrive and there is a huge cow on top of the building. Is this Seafood? No Vegan? No. Asian? No. This is a Texas Steakhouse. Sometimes you just need something authentic. This is that place. Enjoy!

The food was ok. Not the best seasoned burger I have had but not the worst. They have many options to choose from and various specials. Lots of room for dining in.
