Feedback gevenWe had a lovely experience and felt well taken care of. We had a reservation, so we didn't have to wait. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Although we don't go often because of the prices, we love to celebrate special occasions there. We've never been disappointed!
I'm not sure why they require reservations. We had to wait almost 30 minutes despite having one, and then we ended up sitting in the bar area. The crabcake and tuna were both too spicy for my taste. Overall, I was quite disappointed with this experience. However, I must say that our waiter was excellent.
We've been visiting Houston's restaurants for over 25 years, and they've consistently delivered great meals. My favorite dish is the grilled chicken salad. They’ve made a nice adjustment to the Asian salad by allowing options of brisket or fried chicken, which I think is a fantastic change. Additionally, their au jus roast beef sandwich is excellent. For the first time, they added cheese wedges to the menu, and they really load them up! One aspect that really frustrates me, though, is their tiny water glasses. The management continues to use these ridiculous little glasses with no ice. It's been an ongoing issue for years, and you always have to remind the waiter to bring a proper-sized glass with ice.
We were traveling and it was my husband's birthday...Houston's is one of his FAVORITE restaurants but we don't have one where we live... so we were so excited to have one in Dallas near where we were staying. Rachel was our server and she was fantastic. Everything was fantastic. We had a perfect meal and a wonderful time.
We had a good dining experience, but it did not meet our high expectations that Houston's set for us on numerous other occasions. Our main courses were excellent, but two side orders of broccoli were far too salty. One of our side orders was wrong; I pointed it out to our server and eventually she brought the correct side item, skillet beans. When we received our bill, we were charged for an extra side item the skillet beans. We pointed out the mistake and the charge was removed. Our main server did not provide the excellent service that we have come to expect at Houston's. She didn't know the soup of the day, messed up one of our orders, and added an extra item to our bill that should not have been included. One of the managers gave us a complimentary piece of pie to compensate us for the mistakes, which was a nice touch. We still have high expectations for Houston's and consider the mistakes to be an anomaly.
