When I lived in Long Island, I started shopping at Whole Foods, and the produce and organic selections opened up a whole new world in terms of variety and selection. Only farmers' markets can really compete when it comes to fruits and vegetables. I was so happy when they built the Danbury store. Also, there's an Amazon lockbox that often has one day delivery. Win-win.
I recently moved to the Danbury area and have shopped with Whole Foods for over 20 years. Unfortunately, I just had a bad experience when purchasing a turkey product. I asked the meat dept. three times to order NR turkey tenderloins. The third time, the team leader said he would order it (as other WF have the same product). To my surprise, I happened to see it in the display case for sale they never called me to tell me it was in and did not hold it aside for me. Since I was in a rush to get all my shopping done, I did not notice the price until I received my receipt. The price was two dollars more/lb. than I paid at Greenwich WF, and when I went to the customer service desk, I was told that since the store was closing, she would have to call Greenwich the next day and call me after. I never heard from her and when I called, the team leader in the meat dept. told me the store mgr. said I should bring in my frozen turkey w/the price on it from the Greenwich store to prove the price. First of all, I was not going to defrost my turkey just to bring it into the store, secondly, the mgr. didn't even take my call but passed his message along to the team leader from the meat dept. When I called back, I told the mgr. to call Grnwich himself (since he did not believe me). He called back and said Grn. has the same price as Danbury and there was nothing he could do. Then I called Grnwich myself and spoke to the tl of the meat dept. and said I have a pkg. from his store w/the label saying the price was $2 lower than Danbury WF. He asked for the UPC , which I gave him and he said since this was a new product this year, the employees were marking it the same price as the original, and it should have been marked up by $2/lb. But, since they did that, he would give me that price when I buy it again. The Danbury WF mgr. could have had more customer service and offered to compensate me for all the trouble I went through and looked into this situation more carefully. I am very disappointed with the customer service attitude at this store.
I love to browse through Whole Foods but sometimes, things get crazy with rude customers and busy people, especially 'down county '. This is probably the best of the bunch. Courteous staff, great selection and all the other amenities one can find at the other locations (clean, well-stocked shelves). As with the other locations, bring your pocketbook and a wallet and your ATM, because you are going to rip through some cash in here. The prepared foods look amazing. Check it out....close to the Mall and lots of other shopping.
Stopped in for a veggie juice at the juice bar and was not disappointed. Made fresh to order with prime ingredients.
