Everything is super fresh and it comes from all the oceans. Ronnie is just fantastic and her smile brightens the room! Fish caught from literally all over the world and expertly prepared by Andy. Japan and Spain is the highlight tonight and it's just awesome.
If you like a loud chef when you eat, someone who doesn’t know when to allow for quiet time, then this is your place. However, I couldn’t eat more than two pieces. The fish in the window counter looked old and stall, it tasted as much. The sushi pieces were far too big and fell apart. Nothing memorable or special, I actually had to open the reviews to double check if I was at the right place. These reviews appear bought, nothing from this place is wow or extraordinary. I don’t believe people who are calling it the best sushi they have had. It was the worst I’ve had. Plus, you won’t find a regular roll here. Everything is priced at $20 and it isn’t worth the atmosphere, the chef or the presentation, but more importantly the taste of huge chunks of fish, were stomach turning. I rarely leave reviews, but I had to set the record straight about this place. Worst sushi experience I have ever had in this city, and I am sorry I had to experience it.
You will not find a better cut of fish in or out of the city. Chef Andys passion for his craft shows. Consider me hooked-super big YUM.
We did take out and spent quite a lot for a celebration kind of meal. The portion is quite generous for the price and the ingredients are fresh. Plating also looks colorful and is done with effort. However, I have to say the the experience is a little weird for the following reasons.1) found not sanitary non food item in one of the rice bowls2) the rice is seasoned in a very weird way. We have eaten sushi countless times over the world from $20 pp to $600 pp and this rice is just seasoned badly bland and a bit salty and no taste of vinegar. Maybe out order was big and the chef forgot some steps?3) fish is fresh but multiple pieces of fish had tough tissues that are not edible and unpleasant
SIMPLY THE BEST sushi in Philly! This is not your typical, run of the mill sushi spot, this is a place where you go to witness the art of sushi firsthand. Don 't be intimated by the generous size of the rolls, you don 't have to eat them in one bite. But you 'll devour them. It 's been less than 24 hours since I visited and I 'm already craving these rolls again. The level of dedication to the craft and culinary artistry is apparent. Chef Andy makes everyone feel welcome and gives a one-of-a-kind up-close experience that 's filled with hospitality, kindness and approachability. There 's zero pretense, in fact Andy encourages diners to have it their way, no one 's gonna shame you for wanting some spicy mayo with your rolls here. It 's all about happiness and Andy delivers that in the shape of well portioned rolls.Vegetarian options: Don 't be turned off by the limited choices! You 'll have more than enough variety within the rolls with only a few choices. And Andy may even surprise you with more daily specials. Chef Andy is very respectful of dietary needs and will do his best to accommodate. We had an enormous plate of two styles of vegetarian rolls along with pickled veggies and a fresh salad. Everything was fantastic.
