On top of that, they also have amazing art and giftware, made by local artists and crafters. As a bonus, they always have great beer on tap! Years later and I still absolutely love this place! Be sure to check out their comedy night and catch some local musicians jamming.
I adore Dart Gallery. I always discover something I desire, whether it be a card, a ceramic piece, or a picture/painting from the current exhibition. Their membership program allows you to accumulate credit, which I appreciate because it enables me to purchase larger pieces.
Awesome place to eat and observe. The food is unbelievable. Mussels, fish cakes, vegetables, falafel, mushrooms all EXCELLENT! The gallery has so many hand crafted pieces of original jewelry, pottery, gift cards and paintings. I ate her twice in one weekend and found new things to look at both visits!
I always enjoy visiting this restaurant, especially during the themed shows that feature multiple artists. I have tried to eat there before but always seemed to miss their opening hours. Finally, I sorted out the timing and went for a meal on a Friday night, only to find out that it was a private event. Despite not being able to dine there, I still appreciate the delicious smells coming from the kitchen while wandering through the gallery.
I always forget that this restaurant exists, but finally had the chance to try it for brunch on a beautiful Sunday in October. A friend and I arrived at 11 and were the only customers there the whole time we were there. The server asked if we were the two people who had made reservations, which we had not. I asked if it was normally that quiet and she said it usually wasn't, as it had been quite busy the night before (Nocturne was on, so lots of people were out roaming the city and filling many businesses). The restaurant is also an art store, but "Picnic" is just the room to the right when you come in the entrance. It is a tiny place with seating for maybe 20 at most, with lots of natural light and some random clutter around, but nicely decorated as any art gallery cafe should be. The bathroom floor is made entirely of pennies, which I found neat. The food was very good. My Huevos Urbanite ($11) was a tortilla nest with refried beans, soft poached eggs, and topped with spicy mole sauce. It wasn't huge, but just the right size. It had a BBQ sauce flavor to me, which covered up a lot of the dish so I didn't actually see any beans, but I'm sure they were there with whatever type of beef constituted the main part of the dish I found. Basically, it wasn't exactly as described on the menu, but I still liked it. My friend had the Deluxe Khachapuri ($12.50), a bread boat with cheese topped with a set egg and bacon hollandaise. It was a bit smaller than we had pictured, but the proper size and very good tasting overall. Both dishes came with a side salad of greens and a pink dressing. I will definitely be back!
