Had the California pizza $10) chicken, avocado, garlic, tomato. It was fresh and very hot but nothing special. My friends had the James Calvin pot roast sandwich) and the Oban fancy BLT on a croissant). Both sandwiches looked and tasted delicious. The chocolate chip cookie $1.10) was really good!! I recommend staying away from the pizza and trying on the sandwiches and selection of desserts cookies, brownies, pie, including a few gluten free options).
Formerly Duck 's Cosmic Kitchen the name changed in 2013, according to Eater Atlanta. I haven 't been here in a long while, which is strange because I thought the place was pretty fabulous when it opened in 2005. But I do enjoy their donuts regularly at Dancing Goats. Today I decided to break my long Duck drought and headed over for lunch. A great day to eat outside in their courtyard. At first, I had to figure out where the door was. Years ago, you ordered from the trailer like building where the bakery/kitchen is and took your food either to an outside seat or inside a dining room located in the building to the back right. They now have a proper restaurant space and that dining room is some other business. The James Calvin sandwich is as delicious as I remembered. Fall apart pot roast with great walnut bread. The potato salad is pretty good, too. And the lemonade is perfect for a fairly warm June day. Service is as friendly and unpretentious as always. Duck 's reminds me of the places you find in Grass Valley, California, if you 've ever been there. Nice people with more than a little '60 's counter culture influence.
This is one of our favorite lunch spots but don't expect a late lunch, Duck's closes by 4pm on weekdays and 3pm on Saturday. It's not open Sunday or Monday at all. Sit in the lovely, breezy courtyard and enjoy a fresh and delicious sandwich, brunch dish, soup or salad. The food is seasonal and locally sourced you can definitely tell that the food is house made on the spot (expect a little bit of a wait). I often have the shrimp cakes or the lemon hummus. The pimento cheese is delicious too. Dogs are welcome on the patio they'll even bring a bowl of water for your pup. Perfect place for a pretty Saturday lunch. They also serve beer and wine if you are so inclined.
Love this place hidden in Decatur! The patio makes you feel like you are at a cafe in Paris. The service is great and they are always very friendly. I love bringing my dog to sit with me on the patio. They have amazing fresh salads and I love to add a scoop of chicken salad. I recently got the lox and bagel and it was also amazing. Highly recommend this place especially on a nice day!
I was waiting on an appt and decided to give this place a try. I am all for the non commercialized food spots. This spot is a little unorthodox as to you eat in one building while the food comes from another building. I ordered the grill cheese which came with a salad. The grill cheese was good. ..but the winner was this lil plain looking salad. THE RANCH DRESSING WAS AWESOME! I also got a Blood Orange Red Velvet Cupcake. .I was a little disappointed because it was hard due to being refrigerated (almost felt frozen) but the little I was able to pinch off had a very good flavor
