Stopped for lunch for the first time in a couple of years. Coffee was excellent. My spouse had a bacon cheeseburger which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the "Tree Top Burger" which was great, and the bacon in particular was really good. This is your basic diner, catering to patrons from the bus lines and to passing travellers and specializing in fast service. The washroom areas could do with some fixup for missing and broken floor tiles and general maintenance. This is not a high-class eatery - just a very good one. Prices are low to moderate, cutlery and dishes clean and in good repair. Main seating area is all booths except one table but there is attached dining room for those who want to have tables and chairs. There are several signs warning you that this is a "cash only" operation. There is an ATM which the servers said is permanently out of service; and the credit/debit card machine was not working and they were unsure when, if ever, it would again be available. Expect to pay cash, but at least their prices mean you won't need a whole lot of it. Sorry we have missed returning to give place another chance for so long - we will be back.
Omgosh! Got up and left...the moment we walked in it felt like a deep freeze cooler...I shivered at the table and my husband even gave me his jacket to layer on top of my vest...still freezing as 3 of us at our table shivered! I mentioned it to the waitress. and she told me it wasn't and then I heard her around the corner mocking me to her co-worker! My dad went to the washroom and he never complains about anything and he said "Omgosh! It's filthy back there and the bathrooms are disgusting! I can't imagine the kitchen!" I asked about the soup of the day and she said "ah...I'll go check!" With annoyed attitude! Came back and said, " pea and rice..it's not ready but she can microwave it" At that point I looked at my husband and we left and walked out. Zero stars for us.
This is what you used to find on the road in the US: homemade, high quality food with only the best service. Stop here and go back in time and live when quality mattered.
Easily dismissed from Highway 17 but is a truly pleasant surprise.Menu is typically diner food, special of the day, home made soup, BLT's and desserts but good, tasteful quantities and very reasonable pricing make it a must stop if you are driving any long distance.Service was very friendly, casual but the cook is fast. Your food will be hot when served.**Noticed on the menu: Baby Duck wine..........memories
