The Gosh Dam Place - Deer River

During our camping trip in the area, we decided to go out for lunch one day. The service was excellent and the pizza was amazing! The panko bread crumbs on the bottom of the crust added a nice crunch to the pizza, and the amount of cheese on it was impressive. The pepperoni was large and there was plenty of it. My wife loved the tequila shot she had. We will definitely be returning in the future.

We chose to stay at this hotel for its proximity to Lake Winnipesaukee for fishing, but it turned out to be a huge mistake. The beds in the room were extremely old, dating back to the 1960s. When I sat on the bed, it sagged significantly and I weigh only 165 lbs. I woke up in the morning feeling groggy and with a sore back from the uncomfortable bed. This issue was not unique to me, as my companions also experienced the same discomfort. If you decide to stay here, you would be better off opting for an air mattress on the floor. The bathroom was in a similar state of disrepair, with the door being difficult to open or close without physically kicking it, and the toilet seat was broken. The food in the restaurant was mediocre and overpriced. I will definitely not be returning to this establishment.

As we pulled into the busy parking lot, I couldn't shake the feeling of dread. The sight of all the bar food on the menu only added to my disappointment as I longed for something comforting and delicious after a long day of driving. Reluctantly, I agreed to my family's choice of pizza, expecting it to be subpar. To my surprise, the pizza was both fast and absolutely delicious. The sausage had a local, homemade taste that felt oddly authentic for northern Minnesota. The cheese pull and fresh veggies added to the exceptional flavor. We left the restaurant with happy, full bellies, wondering why we hadn't ordered a larger pizza. The parking lot's fullness suddenly made sense - this place was clearly a hidden gem.

The food at this restaurant is amazing! The Ruebens were the best we've ever had. Unfortunately, the bartender/owner was quite rude when we requested a partial refund.
