But the real value and tasty meal was definitely the breakfast buffet. Reindeer, sausage, blueberry compote to put on your pancakes, blueberry muffins, scrambled eggs with veggies, etc. In the evening they let you take drinks from the bar and drink around the fire pits out front. An absolute must do!
We stopped in for a late lunch this seems to be part of the Princess Complex, we were warmly greeted and escorted to our table. Milko “Mickey” was our server he had excellent menu knowledge, and was attentive without being over present. I chose the fish chips, my bride went with the cob salad huge . They were delivered promptly and at an appropriate temperature. I was somewhat taken by surprise that the prices here seemed very reasonable considering the resort feel, and the location this was a good value in a nice venue.
Had the halibut , excellent. We had appetizer and main course. Portions were large and cooked properly. Service was also great. Expensive yes, but we are in Alaska.
I had a great experience at the restaurant. The Chuli beer was excellent, and the service was enjoyable as well. The chicken sandwich met my expectations, but the fries were outstanding! The only point of criticism I have is regarding the telling of Mrs. Quigley’s story. It mentioned Kantishna, a name she wouldn’t recognize, instead of Eureka, which was the place she had known her entire life.
Fanny Quigley was an American pioneer, prospector, and cook during the Klondike Gold Rush, who lived in what is now Denali National Park and Preserve. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t quite live up to the name. We arrived during peak hours and ended up sitting on high stools at the bar, but thankfully, we didn’t have to wait long for our meal. The menu was rather standard and could have used more variety; it featured classic American dishes like cheesesteak sandwiches, fried chicken sandwiches, and, of course, a Cobb salad. What’s Alaska without fresh fish? There was a full bar available, and some entertainment was wrapping up when we arrived. While they did have a gas fire pit outdoors, the smell was overpowering and gave me a slight headache. The service was good, but the food was mediocre. The interior was nicely decorated, and the entertainment was enjoyable for the last five minutes. I just wish the food reflected traditional options like sourdough, beans, and pierogi, honoring the region's rich migration history. Overall, it was an average experience.
