Chakas Mexican - Denver

I traveled all the way from Ken Caryl for what used to be excellent Mexican food, and I was extremely disappointed, as was my friend. The salsa was so spicy it made us choke. The server informed us there wasn’t a milder option available, but she could get us some mild green chile for an additional charge! We ordered a bowl of beans and cheese, which cost $7 for a small portion. The guacamole and lettuce on our tostadas were unappetizing and seemed old. We definitely won't be returning anytime soon. It was more than just disappointing. Also, please stop trying to take our plates away before we’re finished! Our stomachs are not feeling good today, likely due to the guacamole.

Our favorite spot for Mexican food in Denver. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the service is very efficient. The atmosphere is simple, but that adds to its charm.

I wish I could leave zero stars. This place was legit HORRIBLE. The fajitas...... flavorless. The quesadilla....T-RASH. Even the refried beans had no flavor. The horchata was watery. Worst Mexican food I've ever had, and I've had Viva Burrito. Will not be coming back

I'm sitting at another Mexican food restaurant right now wishing I was eating at Chakas. That's how good this place is. It sets the bar. It makes you regret spending money at other establishments because deep down you know it won't amount to what Chakas has to offer. This place renewed my love for Mexican food in an otherwise oversaturated market for Mexican cuisine. 6/5 is my actual score. Thank you Chakas.
