Kept it simple with the original burger on a gluten free bun and a side of DEEELICIOUS green chili… for dipping of course. Extra Big ups as they carried Holidaily gluten free beer to wash down all that deliciousness! Will be back for seconds!
Visited Tap Burger in Slo Hi (I didn't thow this was a thing...Sloans Lake Highlands neighborhood) cute area tucked off of Colfax. Pleasant weather on a Tuesday so we dined on the patio for an early lunch...plenty of open seating both inside snd out. My husband ordered the patty melt and I asked for the black and blue burger. It occurred to me that I wasn't asked how I like my burger prepared so it did arrive pinker than I prefer but I did like the bacon jam. My husband said his meal was tasty, however, he felt it was a small serving. The truffle aioli wth the fries was yummy and I definitely recommend the pretzel bites. Service was good and when I asked for a clean water glass because mine had lips on the rim she was prompt with a replacement. We caught that the 20% gratuity was included so didn't end up over tipping. Would visit again.
Great burger even better sweet potato tots. The sweet potato tots were like little candies, it was so hard to not just keep popping them. We also got the shroom luves which was awesome, the flavor was savory and nothing was overpowering. The only thing about this place that is bad is the price.
My friend wanted a good burger, so I thought we 'd check out this newer location of Highland Tap Burger. I hoped it would have better parking than Highland and indeed it does--there 's a nice, large ramp right next to the restaurant that offers free parking. The restaurant is tucked into the first level corner of a residential mid-rise which is part of the 2016 redevelopment of the seven block former St. Anthony hospital campus. This is mostly residential, but includes some office space plus an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Odell Brewing, Starbucks, a few bars/restaurants, and a few retail spaces. Tap Burger, per the name, offered two dozen draft beers plus another 20 in cans. The menu also lists a small selection of wine and cocktails. We each selected a draft beer. Both were fairly unusual styles from breweries we had not encountered before. We enjoyed the beers. My friend tried the Black and Blue burger with blue cheese, bacon jam, and crispy onion. I had the 'Shroom Luva 's with Swiss, sauteed mushrooms, and truffle aioli. I added caramelized onions. Both burgers were good. They were properly cooked medium, all of the add-ons were tasty, and everything meshed well together. We both ordered sweet potato tots to go with the burgers and we agreed that these were the highlight of the meal. The tots were quite small, fried, sweet potato balls, served in a very cute, miniature fryer basket. The portion was huge and they were delicious. We gobbled up every one of them. I don 't understand the concept of smashed beef patties. This seems like the opposite of how to properly cook a burger. I think the patties would have been better unsmashed. Also, I can 't stand burgers served in trays with butcher paper. The paper always gets soggy and makes a mess before I can finish my meal and that was the case here. The bun was nothing special and got so soggy I had to eat most of my burger with silverware. If Tap Burger wants that fifth star from me, they need to ditch the butcher paper and find a more robust bun! I don 't often review restaurant furniture, but that was a big problem here. The first chair I tried was so wobbly (all of the joints were loose) that I thought it might collapse. There were several empty tables around us, so I played musical chairs for awhile until I realized that ALL of the chairs were broken. Very unpleasant and uncomfortable. The owners of this place run a dozen very successful restaurants and have extensive management experience. I don 't understand letting something so fundamental to a nice dining experience just fall through the cracks. This is really a sports bar with a huge, rectangular bar that takes up much of the space and lots of televisions. There 's also a very nice, quite large patio. Service was very friendly and excellent. I should note that this restaurant group (there are three other locations of this concept plus seven fancier restaurants in other styles) uses a 20% service fee to compensate all of the staff more fairly.
Sa at the bar and had excellent service. Thanks Jordan! Beer selection was great love the mention for the bright beer section. Bacon made the sandwich and Burger-Yummy. Friends were perfect.
