Marley'z is a bar located in the center of Derby City. To be honest, I had a hard time reviewing this place, but here it goes. It is unlike any other place I have been to in the area. It has a run-down and rough appearance, and you get the sense that a fight could break out at any moment. However, it also has a unique vibe with old school reggae and soul music playing, making for a surprisingly enjoyable night with inexpensive drinks. It is an unusual place to visit, but overall a pleasant experience. Just be cautious and avoid looking for trouble.
We wandered into this restaurant not quite sure what to expect, searching for some food and drinks. At the bar, a young woman called back to the kitchen and a man named Ken introduced himself as the owner and chef. He informed us of the dishes he had prepared for the evening. I opted for the vegetarian stew with rice and dumplings, accompanied by a delicious homemade coleslaw side salad. My friends chose the jerk chicken and chicken curry with rice and dumplings, also with a side salad. We were all impressed by the quality of the food and found the prices to be very reasonable. In the back room, there was a DJ playing fantastic reggae and dub music. Overall, we had a great experience and would highly recommend this restaurant.
Wouldn't waste my time and money traveling to marleyz restaurant in derby again no where to park and take note this is not a restaurant its a dull bar with rubbish selection of food .......
This is genuine authentic Jamaican cuisine. The food is so tasty genuine home cooked food. Don't expect a multitude of dishes to choose from this place is as real as it gets. What's ridiculous is that meals are only £5. £5!?!? Ridiculous. If people weren't sheep and went to chain restaurants like Turtle Bay around the corner, life would be much better! Long may this place live!
