The table service was excellent and it was a great experience. However, it is not a cheap restaurant and that was the only disappointing aspect of the evening. I have included a picture of the menu with prices at the time if my visit as this information is not readily available online.
Sadly, staying in the Premier Inn there is little choice of where to go for breakfast. Lets start with the machine coffee which comes lukewarm and scarcely tastes of a latte. The compote looks appertising, but was very cold as though it was still thawing out. The fried tomatoes were too hard, the bacon suffered from being on a warm plate as did the black pudding no crispness at all and the scrambled eggs to hard....whereas they should be soft and fluffy. Oh! and they charge you £8.99 for this. A good opportunity for an entrepreneur to set up and open a breakfast place nearby. Staff efficient in clearing away.
The restaurant was actually closed and rework was going on but food was still on offer in the bar. The bar is a sports bar with big TVs and loud music, not ideal for a quiet meal. I not sure the menu on offer was what the restaurant offered or just what you could have in the bar. It was okay however the chef had overdone the chilli in my chilli chicken.
The menu offers a wide variety of choices and the staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Dining alone can sometimes feel uncomfortable, but the relaxed atmosphere at this restaurant made me feel at ease.
The blonde girl from Germany (or Easter Europe) who served us was absolutely amazing. She had a lovely manner and showed natural hospitality. However, the chef had trouble cooking frozen skinny fries. Yes, you read that right, frozen fries! Both our table and another table sent them back FIVE times and they never quite got it right. The rest of the food was okay, nothing special, but it was reasonably priced for a £15 meal deal. We were treating our son who is at Uni in Derby to a proper meal and catching up, so we didn't want to cause a scene. The staff really saved the day and I hope my rating reflects the balance between the good service and the disappointing food.
