The restaurant is falsely claiming that a Covid certificate is required to use the campsite, even though no other place along the Gibb River Road has this requirement. Additionally, they are charging $10 for WLAN access due to poor service. This behavior is unacceptable and unethical.
We were unfortunately in the campsite near Manning Gorge through the mt Barnett Roadhouse. It was one of the worst camping experiences we had. The site was exceptionally crowded, very dusty and smokey at night due to hundreds of campfires. It was serious... unhealthy. There were 6 toilets (3 female 3 male) for many hundreds of campers. There was a washing machine, although the camp was filled with young families.
My husband and I contacted Mount Barnett Roadhouse to book a night stay at Manning Gorge. While on the road, my husband needed to use the bathroom. However, we were informed that the toilets were closed due to Covid19 regulations. The receptionist directed us to a storage space 7 km away. We decided to continue our journey and arrived at Manning Gorge, where we found that there were four toilets and showers for women, but all were out of order. The same situation applied to the male ablution block when we returned in the afternoon. There were only 3 en-suite bathrooms for the entire campsite. Despite the campsite not being fully occupied, the facilities were lacking. The long queues for the bathrooms and showers were disappointing. We were very unsatisfied with our stay at Manning Gorge and felt that the services provided were underwhelming.
My partner and I were unfortunate to have a crash travelling along the Gibb River Rd close to Mt Barnett. The staff at the roadhouse were amazing. We are still in awe at the kindness they showed us. Not only did they provide us with...a place to stay for the evening they also offered us a lift to Derby the next day (even though this meant them taking two vehicles for the trip) They really made us feel safe during what was a traumatic experience and we still can’t believe how fortunate we were to have their help. We also stayed at the campsite the night before our accident which was fantastic and we enjoyed a beautiful walk and swim at Manning Gorge. Thanks again Jodie, Adam, Tommy, Emily and Luke. You’re all absolute legends!
