Latin King Italian Dining - Des Moines

As first-timers, we had a group of six, and we left with every plate wiped clean. We even had to order dessert to take home because we didn’t want to miss anything! (Surely there’s a Latin King in heaven.) There wasn't a single negative aspect to our experience. We are truly amazed. The food was so exceptional that we can’t find the right words to express it. The service was impeccable, the ambiance was authentic, and the classy environment made us feel like we were in a movie.

We were a party of two and were seated immediately at 6 PM on a Saturday night. The food was outstanding and incredibly tasty. However, the service truly stood out. Our waitress, Margaret, was attentive and responsive to all our needs. The most impressive part, though, was how quickly they cleared and set the tables for new customers—taking less than 3 minutes! It was clear to me that every staff member plays a vital role in making this restaurant what it is. Great job, Latin King!

I recently visited one of the most popular spots in Des Moines, and it did not disappoint! The ambiance was enhanced by comforting music, and I was greeted by a friendly waitress in a charmingly decorated setting. Although the lunch crowd was light, the upscale prices for lunch matched the overall experience. Parking was convenient, and the tables were well spaced for a pleasant dining atmosphere. My order arrived in just a few minutes, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Spiedini and Toasted Ravioli—they were spot on! As a special treat for myself, I indulged in the Tiramisu, which was simply delicious.

Update For those that remember the Latin king and how amazing it was.... I regret to say that is not the same since being franchised. The food and service that brought us back over the years is far from the memories it has brought us. The table bread now is a hard unedible roll far from the original locally owned bread we remember. The chicken spendini I ordered half and half looked the same but, lacked in flavor and sauce. It was bland and very dry. It is far from howI remember my once favorite dish being as well. Even the previous pictures show the vast difference. We are in no hurry to return to my once favorite Italian restaurant. It is very sad. It's Latin King. What more could I say than simplyamazing! We had come last night to celebrate my sisters birthday and there was finally an open table on their patio. We started with red wine and lemon drop and of course their fried mozzarella. There is nothing like it. The gooey breadedcheese is so fantastic. We can not come here and not get it. So when I come here I typically always get the chicken spedini. With knowing how good it always is hard to even try anything else. But last night was an exception, my sisterwanted to get gnocchi and we spilt them together. Wow it will now be hard to NOT get the gnocchi. Everything was awesome as always.

We was shut down for wind yesterday. You are limited as to where you can eat. We literally drove around 20 mins looking for a place and stumbled across this establishment. It was established in 1947! Treated as royalty! A little pricey....but you will NOT be disappointed! We don't typically spend this much but like we said food was limited where we had to shut down. Food 5 stars! Staff 5 stars! Atmosphere 5 stars! Family friendly 5 stars! Highly recommended!
