Malo - Des Moines

The dining service was fantastic, with the waiting staff providing excellent attention. However, the bar staff was incredibly slow; it took us 15-20 minutes to receive our drinks, which were just two bottles of beer and two drafts. Even our server apologized for the sluggishness of the bar staff. Once we ordered our food, it arrived much quicker than our drink orders! The food itself was absolutely delicious.

I've been to Malo numerous times with business clients and have always enjoyed my experience. However, this time we sat at the bar and were overlooked by the bartender, who seemed to have plenty of time but didn't acknowledge us for 15 minutes—no greeting, no water, no menus. After managing to get the attention of a different bartender, we received good service. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving after just a couple of drinks and without ordering food due to the initial poor experience.

I went to try the Mahi-mahi tacos, and I was impressed by the generous portion size. However, I wish they offered a Mango-Pineapple salsa to go with them.

Entree combo# 8 was especially delicious. My street tacos were just ok, strange texture with the corn tortillas. Salsa ,guacamole, and margarita were very good. Will be back for summer on patio .

Malo rarely disappoints. Tacos were great. Chipotle crema is unbeatable. Service was great.
