Oba Contemporary Japanese - Des Plaines

My dining experience at this restaurant was fantastic. Initially, we drove by without noticing it, but quickly turned back and were welcomed warmly by the staff upon arrival. The menu had a wide variety of options, making it difficult for us to choose, but the hostess provided helpful recommendations and explained each dish. When our food arrived, we were impressed by the presentation and the delicious taste. From the miso soup to the specialty rolls, beef box, and dessert, every dish exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to visiting again the next time we are in town. 10/10 stars!

The restaurant recently changed its name, but don't be fooled by its appearance from the outside. While it may look like a cheap sushi joint in a strip mall, the food is actually top-quality. Despite being a bit expensive for its decor, the sushi is excellent with a modern twist and high-quality ingredients that would impress even in a high-end restaurant in Hamamatsu. The portion sizes are a bit small for the price, but overall, it's a reliable choice for a delicious meal. Highly recommended.

Fast service. Very good sushi. The ice cream is delicious. The spicy sushi combo with soup and salad is very filling. The tempura with udon was a highlight. The rolls did not even need soy sauce. Everything was very filling.
