Extensive menu but would highly recommend and suggest trying their signature dishes listed on their glass wall inside. I really enjoy their BBQ pork dishes ESPECIALLY their CHOW FUN. Their noodles are very similar to Lad Nar in the sense they are crispy and soft all at the same time! (Hard and then soft when dipped in sauce) VERY tasty and unique ! Service was attentive as well. Solid and strong B+. It's extremely hole in the wall and only by word- of -mouth!
Wonton Gourmet is a hidden gem in the suburbs, it's the closest to ChinaTown restaurants in the suburbs as you'll find. For reference this restaurant is about a 40 min drive from home, which is closer than ChinaTown, but we typically wouldn't drive this far for a restaurant regularly unless it's really good. We try to go at least once a month to either dine in or take-out. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, but not specifically modern or updated, but it works. The servers are attentive and fast. The food is prepared and comes out quickly as well. In my opinion, if you're familiar with or aware of the general customer service and style of service you'd get at most restaurants at ChinaTown, Wonton Gourmet is a hybrid, better service, more attentive than what you'd expect. It adjusts well for suburbans that might be more accustom to more typical chain restaurants in the suburbs. The food is great, full flavored and always prepared quickly and served immediately when ready. They bring out dishes when ready, they don't wait to bring everything out at one time generally. We always order Kung pao chicken and really like their chow fun and noodle soups, which is what they're know for. We'd recommend Wonton Gourmet for sure to anyone looking for recommendations for good food locally.
Must go now! Everything is delicious! Everything. Rarely a wait! Plenty of parking. Service is very attentive. We've been going for over 20yrs and it never disappoints. Music isn't too loud. Very clean and spacious.
Their homemade wonton here has a very thin wrapper and almost smoky tasting filling. I love the shrimp wonton soup. The other meals are also good but the soups are the signature of the restaurant. We also got the egg rolls for appetizers. It is a plate of two, and they are good. The hot and sour soup was also good. Service always friendly and attentive, same servers we've known for years! Their shrimp wonton is a must try! Definitely will come back! Food was fresh, tasty, and big portions. Very very good! Thanks to all the servers!
My family came here on a Monday night and the place was packed! Both with tables and carry out orders. The place is larger inside with and open seating concept, so it can get a bit loud. This place is your Hong Kong Style Tea Restaurant. They have classics like cha siu, wonton noodle soup, and all the noodles galore. They also have some Chinese American Dishes as well to cater to the American palate. The Beef and Chinese Broccoli (Gai Lan) chow fun and the Black Bean Beef Chow Fun were great! I loved that they make their noodles so crispy and when combined with the saucy dish makes for a tasty bite! The Crab Rangoons are alright- just mostly cream cheese. The Wonton Noodle soup was good- pretty meaty wontons! Overall, my HK family approves. Probably best Cantonese food in the burbs.
