They were both prepared very well and tasted very good. I ordered the Delmonico medium rare and it was overcooked. The Filet we ordered was also overcooked a bit. They profusely apologized for the steak they served. Our waitress was great and the Maitre D Mike came over and grabbed my plate. Within 5 minutes I had a perfectly cooked steak,a free beer and a Free beautiful Classic Carrot Cake. We will be back again! Thanks Mike
My husbands food was great- mine was a salmon dish with a ravioli- sauce was great but actual one ravioli tasted like old fish very foul-the piece of salmon was fine- the chocolate cake looked beautiful but was very dry seemed once again stale. Our waiter was perfect but one of the other waiter was scolded the staff in front of everyone. Finally I choose this restaurant because the menu on line listed tuna tartar which was not available.
I am from San Francisco and when I want a good meal and a good cocktail I go to Joe Muer's. The wait staff is perfectly attentive without being bothersome and go out of their way to make your meal perfect. The food is excellent, starting with very fresh fish (or meat) and quality produce for the sides. Portions are large and we always end up taking some home with us, this is especially true for the cakes.
Overall the location and the view is really nice, that's probably the main thing that makes this restaurant appealing. I chose this place to celebrate my husband's birthday and we both wanted to visit this place, we always passed it by when walking on the Riverfront. However, it didn't meet our expectations at all. 1) I asked for a table by the window if possible, I get it when places are booked upfront or who booked first gets it, but we sat right next to the table by the window and for a good hour it was without anyone. Then there were 3 people who came just for drinks and left even before we finished our meal. I think if staff can address or at least make sure they saw a comment and explain why it can't be accommodated would provide a better impression. 2) cocktails are quite mediocre, I had Black Orchid nothing special, a few floating ice cubes, and a floating orchid. 3) food Scallops were amazing, had it as a starter. Then I decided to go for Ahi Tuna it was bad. The fish was great, but pairing it with potatoes and beetroot leaves and olives was terrible. Ahi Tuna is very tender and needs to be paired with something delicate and subtle, potatoes and beetroot and olives just interrupted the taste. I didn't enjoy it at all. But my husband took Swordfish it was a good choice. 4) deserts we had creme brulee it was delicious, which was surprising, as for some reason it's hard to find a decent quality creme brulee. Overall, I would say Joe Muer is rather mediocre, just another place where you pay for the view and they can not pay much attention to amazing food or cocktails. However, we were served by Taylor (if I'm not mistaken) she was very pleasant and attentive, that's probably the highlight.
The staff are so courteous and knowledgeable, the service is wonderful. The food is as always, delightful, but we would enjoy smaller portions to be able to try more items. The General Manager noticed our Champagne selection and offered us an even better upgrade, we were delighted. Outstanding.
