Motorcity Wine - Detroit

Great place for a medium sized group to hang out and sip some wine. The only issue is too many smokers outside.

Awesome place for wine (and Tango dancing on Wednesdays! . Really cool place to hang out, super authentic—not much to complain about, though plan to have dinner elsewhere if you’re hungry (no full kitchen, just some charcuterie etc . This place is all about the wine.

I usually really enjoy Motor City Wine but this past week I was less than pleased with my experience. The bartender was extremely dry, short and nearly rude. When I asked I attempted to order my favorite wine, I was told “ We don’t have that” it wasn’t what he said as much as how he said it. There was no follow up of “consider this, have you tried this , etc”. I thought I was maybe a one off, but when my friend arrived who isn’t necessarily a “wine drinker” he was met with the same energy when asking for suggestions or recommendations. He was told “It’s wine, dry, sweet, semi -sweet, rose or get a beer.” We were both very disappointed and opted to leave within 20 minutes. There’s no requirement to be a bubbly, energetic, and courteous bartender but it certainly helps. I was hoping that he was just having a bad day but I won’t be returning for a while. Additional note: I shared my experience with another friend and without me describing the bartender she too had a similar experience which is just unfortunate.

This place always has a great atmosphere. My favorite event is Beautiful Sundays with DJ Rick Wilhite, who sets up an amazing musical experience on the patio every month. Treat yourself and come check it out!

Rude staff cold service I was told to tell them the type of wine I like. I gave them a selection of my favorites and was told just pick something.
